the access to the restaurant is not indicative of the eating, the personal and the environment in the interior. the cook makes a great job with eating and menu. the four of us enjoyed the fish dish, lamb, calf and gnocchi. the caprese appetizer was very good. house wine was good and a great worth. service was exceptional. the personal carries a toga as part of their uniform, but do not let them give them preventive p... What Edward T doesn't like about Caupona:
Food was terrible. I would not return just because of the food. It’s very deceiving because they have high reviews on google and otherwise but it was not good. I had octopus, mozerella caprese, and pasta with clams. The pasta was the worst. It had a terrible smell and I did not see any clams. View all feedback.
We absolutely loved our evening at Caupona. When we arrived, they welcomed us in with warmth and immediately set about dressing my wife an I in traditional Pompeii dress. Our daughter was tired so didn’t follow suit, but she did find it all very amusing! We then enjoyed a surprising menu of meats, vegetables and incredible tastes. My daughter, being five, enjoyed a tomato pasta dish, offered by our attentive waiter. The Pompeii local wine has a lovely Smokey taste to it and complemented the hearty food perfectly. Would highly recommend a visit!
Way too expensive for the quality of the food. Supposed to be high quality but is definetely only ok-ish.
The restaurant decor and robes were great. Just wish the food was better : .
This restaurant was completely unexpected, we chose the restaurant because of the good reviews online and after I recently visited Pompeii I had interested to see how it would replicate the authentic cuisine and decor. We went for the authentic antique Pompeji menu and we were not disappointed. Each dish was amazing, the atmosphere and the ambience were on site and the hosts could not have been more attentive. It is a bit from the beaten track, but very close to Pompeii itself only 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes walk. If you don't have long, make sure you don't miss this little jewel!
Great experience, great service, delicious food!!!!
