What User doesn't like about Locavore Dining & Epoche Lounge Bar:
We booked into the Locavore restaurant during our recent stay at Kirkton Park. The wait were attentive at times but struggled to get the small details right. We were seated and my partner and I realised we'd received two different menus. We ordered two cocktails ($20ea) and as a margarita lover mine was out of balance and too acidic. The food for our 3 courses ($75 deal) overall was good but the salad with our eye fi... View all feedback.
Had dinner with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was lovely and the service was excellent. The star of the menu was the Kirkton Park Lemon Cheesecake. Simply stunning. The best cheesecake I have had in a quirky deconstructed presentation. The ambience was lacking though with the room full it was very loud with the timber floors bouncing the sound around. Also had breakfast the following morning with a wonderful buffet.
Great place, excellent service and amenities. We had a valley view room which was very nice with an outdoor seating area. Good Nespresso machine the room and bar fridge with milk and water. Staff were excellent, attentive and polite. Breakfast was great with all the usual suspects as well as a juicer to make fresh juice. Room was spotless (bar 1 cobweb above bed). Only little issue was our toilet seat did not seem to be fastened to the bowl, not too much of a problem until it slipped off with me on it. I reported it to the house keeper who was walking past and it was repaired immediately , so I suppose you could not ask for anything more…it was fixed. Besides that, the taps on the basin both leaked from the top, just a small maintenance thing but should have been reported by housekeeping. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend and would go back.
Kirkton Park evokes nostalgia for refined dining of the past, while Locavore continues in the same vein with its pleasant ambiance. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, though there was one waitress who unprofessionally cleared plates before we had finished eating, which was awkward. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend dining here.
This is a beautiful property and the room we had High Tea in was lovely. There was plenty of food almost too much. We had kids versions too but their tray was very chocolate brownie heavy. What was intriguing was we had to ask for Tea yep its a high tea. Then the choices of tea were average at best. They were just your standard teas eg: english breakfast. Due to COVID there was hardly anyone at the High Tea so service for mine could have been far more special then it was. We had a High Tea at The Convent a few months back and I would rate that higher.
The food at this restaurant was cooked perfectly, with generous portions and tasty side dishes. The desserts are a must-try, especially the visually appealing lemon cheesecake. The strawberry lemonade was a refreshing, not overpoweringly sweet drink. The service was quick and the staff were very helpful. Highly recommend this place.
