The Whales Way Restaurant & Bar

Had high hopes from the website, but a very disappointing meal. Cibatti bread starter was delicious, but the two main meals very ordinary. My sirloin steak was dry and not very tasty. My wife's Pork Belly was also dry (it's usually a very jiucy dish) and bland. Would not recommend this restaurant.

What an amazing place! We hadn't been to Stradbroke Island for a few years, and our previous favourite eatery had unfortunately closed, so having read the great reviews on The Whales Way, decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did; we started with a drink in the bar with a spectacular view over the ocean. My sister-in-law and I chose the seafood pasta, and after good advice by the server, chose the entree size instead of the main, a more than adequate serve for our quite robust appetites. My husband had the fish of the day, and found it exquisite. The meals were so delicious, we came back when they re-opened after two days off, and ordered exactly the same meals. Can't wait to come back!

My experience with The Whales Way is a bit different. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I couldn't physically go to the restaurant, but my husband could. So, my husband ate his meal there and got a takeaway container version of the meal that I wanted to eat. (Note: They normally don't do takeaway, but they made a special consideration for us and our situation.) My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal at the restaurant and said that the service and view was excellent. For me, even though my meal was takeaway and it was probably ~45 minutes after my husband left the restaurant that I got to eat it, it was AMAZING! The best steak I've ever had! I don't think it could have been better - it was so delicious - cooked perfectly, still hot, amazing sides - just perfect! The best steak and the best service = the best restaurant! Thank you so much for helping us out that night - it was really amazing.

Service was average although nice enough they got our booking date wrong we were seated in the middle of the restaurant Kids meals were good value Wine list was very good

A group of 5 of us enjoyed cocktails upstairs and a most delicious Sunday lunch at Whales Way. The food, service, staff and view are all amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant at Stradbroke.
