Contribute FeedbackBar Rossano is a cafe cum bar cum betting shop located in the via Redipuglia, a small side street in Poggibonsi. Frequented mostly by locals, it is very clean, the food is good and inexpensive and the service is excellent. Bar Rossano has the buzz of local establishment. It is a place not often frequented by tourists so do not expect the staff or customers to understand English. However, if Italian is not your language then pointing, nodding and smiling seems to work. My Italian wife, who is a native of the town, and I visit Poggibonsi often and always have breakfast at Bar Rossano because not only is the food good, it has a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. There used to be a seating area in the street outside but on our last visit (September 2016 this had been withdrawn. Not sure of the reason why it was withdrawn so in the way things work in Italy it might well be reinstated, which would be good. Be aware the bar gets exceptionally busy on Tuesdays when a large street market is held nearby (very much worth a visit! . The food on offer tends towards snacks such as tramezzini (Italian sandwich , donzelle (deep fried dough sticks , slices of pizza and similar. Drinks include espresso and cappuccino of course plus a refreshing non-alcoholic soft drink called 'bitter ' that has a similar taste to campari. Alcoholic beverages, beer, wine and spirits are available. One half of Bar Rossano is a betting shop that attracts quite a number of customers who pop in to place a bet or buy a lotto ticket, consequently there is a steady flow of customers throughout the day so getting a seat at one on the few tables available is very much on a 'first come, first served ' basis. If you are visiting Poggibonsi, then Bar Rossano is highly recommended for a coffee and a snack and to experience local Italian life.
