Looking from the outside this looks like a small take away that I’d seen in many UK towns, but run down, bit grubby just a bit rough. Do not be put off, this is a lovely clean restaurant with wonderful food and great service. Once downstairs the heat disappears and the tables are clean and laden with chopsticks. Ordered the food (similar to what we would have in the uk), it was all lovely. Not as spicy as at home, but just as flavourful. The dishes are brought over in a ‘Wagamama’s’ hit and miss style (not a problem). Wine is available by three size carafes and is very pleasant. Staff are friendly and full of smiles all in all a great little find and we expect to return before the end of our trip.
I have dined on Chinese food on 4 continents. This was unbelievably horrendous. Other than what they purported to be chicken there was nothing authentic in my meal. The only flavor/taste was salt. Period. The cat and dog I ate in China were far superior. Absolutely the worst. Ever. If you are nearby, run. Run as fast as you can.
From the moment you come in you can tell the food will be delicious, but are still surprised when you taste how perfect the handmade dumplings are. Everything was amazing, the dumplings, the curry rice, the fried rice, but nothing beat the dumplings with hot sauce.
Let 's begin with the positives. It 's a nice place with clean rooms, proficient staff and a fast kitchen. Now for the one big negative: the food. I ordered three different items, some xiaolongbao, some spicy wontons, and some eggplant. Not a single one of them was properly done. Don 't get me wrong, they weren 't bad in the sense you would regret eating them, but they were all very middling versions of what they could have been. The xiaolongbao were dry and small, the spicy sauce was not spicy at all and instead was simply a blend of soy sauce, oil, and the mildest chilli flakes I 've ever tasted, and the eggplant was served BOILING hot in a thin and deep plate which kept it boiling hot the whole time, so that I would have to fetch the individual strips of eggplant and wait minutes before biting into each as not to burn my mouth! All in all I can only recommend this place for first dates you want to ditch on. Pic shows the supposedly spicy sauce.
