My partner and I dined at The Bayou for the first time. The food was excellent! The restaurant offers three different atmospheres to choose from. The service was fantastic! Our waiter was extremely friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. I would give him a 9 out of 10! The food at this restaurant was good. My friend and I traveled 60 miles to try it out because we are big fans of Cajun/Creole cuisine. Not bad for Missouri! It took us two tries to locate the place, but it was worth it. Despite being in a rural area, the restaurant felt safe and had a good amount of customers. We ordered the crawfish and got a large portion for $10. They were tasty, but cooked with too much butter for our liking. We prefer them plain so that we can taste the delicate flavor of the meat, and they were a bit overcooked. We are used to eating seafood in New Orleans where it's prepared differently, but we understand that this is Missouri and things can be different. The fried catfish was full of meat, which we appreciated. It was very tasty. The cornbread was also delicious. We enjoyed the sweet version they served, which reminded us of Tennessee or Arkansas. We liked it more than the plain style served in most places. We can't wait to go back and try something else.
My husband and I drove 60 miles to try out this restaurant since we are big fans of Cajun/Creole cuisine. Despite being in Missouri, the food was surprisingly good. It took us two trips to locate the restaurant, but it was worth it. Even though it's a bit remote, the place was bustling with customers. We ordered the whole crawfish for $10, and while they were cooked well, they were a bit too buttery for our liking. We prefer them without any seasoning to truly savor the meat, and they were slightly overcooked. We frequent New Orleans and enjoy crawfish there, but for Missouri standards, it was decent. The gumbo was packed with meat, unlike many places that skimp on ingredients. It was delicious, as was the sweet cornbread they served. It reminded us of Tennessee or Arkansas, and we appreciated the departure from the bland Alabama style served at most places. We are eager to return and try other dishes on the menu.
Great food! I have never had a disappointing meal at this restaurant.
My husband and I recently dined at The Bayou for the first time. The food was excellent! The restaurant offers three different atmospheres to choose from. The service was fantastic; our waiter was very friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. I would rate it a 9 out of 10! The gumbo was delicious, I particularly enjoyed their bottle caps, and the macaroni and cheese bites were really tasty - they were actual macaroni and cheese! This place is kid-friendly as well.
