Golden Grill Pizzeria - Plymouth

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the quality of the food because I was unable to purchase anything. The restaurant only accepts cash, and I was not able to obtain any from the nearby coop as I did not have my card with me, only my phone. I had to go elsewhere for a meal, and I find it odd that the restaurant only accepts cash in this day and age.

To be honest, the food at this restaurant is just okay. Both times we have eaten here, it has been decent. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly. However, on my most recent visit, I received the wrong food when I ordered a mixed kebab. When I called to inform them of the mistake, they insisted that we were charged the correct price. I explained that I did not order donner meat and chips, but a mixed kebab, and was disappointed when they only offered a simple apology. There was no refund or exchange for the correct food. They tried to convince me that they had not served mixed kebabs for a long time. In the end, they just said they were sorry. I was not impressed, especially since my boyfriend was sitting next to me enjoying his mixed kebab. Thankfully, he was kind enough to share it with me.

Top-notch quality! Every kebab we ordered was delicious and we highly recommend this restaurant. The server was very nice and even stayed open later than usual to accommodate us.

Ordered a couple of times from here now and both times have been poor to be honest. I ordered a Doner Kebab with Salad and chilli sauce. First of all the pitta was just on top of my takeaway box inside the bag. It wasn’t even sliced open for me to put the Doner meat and salad in. It just looked like a half arsed effort. If I’m paying for a kebab, I’m expecting a kebab, not meat and salad thrown in a box with a whole pitta on top. The second thing is that the chilli sauce isn’t really a sauce. It’s more like a paste. Never had it like this anywhere else. The doner meat was okay and the delivery guy was a really nice bloke and very friendly but unfortunately that’s as far as the positives go. There’s plenty of other takeaways in the area worth going to over Golden Grill unfortunately, it has to be said.

My wife and I had been out for the day and thought it would be a good idea to collect a take away on the way home. I ordered six portions of chicken, one portion of chips and a portion of spicy potatoes. The chicken was very dry perhaps it was left over from the lunch time opening. The chips were dry and the potatoes were only lukewarm. The service was perfunctory and be warned this is a cash only business. This establishment thinks it is 1951 not 2021!
