Description
**Discovering Culinary Charm at Nguni**
Nestled in a cozy, converted fisherman's cottage, Nguni offers a delightful dining experience reminiscent of home. While the atmosphere and attentive service shine through, opinions on the food are mixed. Dishes, such as the springbok fillet and ostrich, receive praise for their flavor, yet some patrons find the seasoning lacking or the cooking inconsistent. Although the drink selection is decent, a few misses in execution dampen the overall impression. Despite minor flaws, many diners appreciate the unique ambiance and warm hospitality, making Nguni a gem in Plettenberg Bay worth exploring for its authentic South African cuisine.

We made reservations for our first night in Plettenberg, and we were all thoroughly impressed by the service, atmosphere, and food. However, it was the service that truly distinguished Nguni from other places. It's probably the best service we've experienced in over a year in South Africa—truly exceptional.
One of the best dinners we've had in South Africa so far. The Springbok paired with the Babylonstoren Babel wine was an excellent recommendation from our lovely waitress. My wife ordered the ostrich fillet, which was also incredibly delicious! If you're in Plett, you definitely shouldn't miss this amazing spot!
Nguni Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay is a delightful culinary spot, with a unique approach to South African cuisine. Nestled in a charming, artfully decorated setting, the restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Nguni's menu is a tribute to local flavors, focusing on traditions. The presentation of food is simple and no-nonsense, complementing the overall rustic yet local vibe of the place. For dessert I strongly recommend the typical South African dessert, with Amarula, absolutely fantastic! Service is warm and attentive, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Pricing is very reasonable, high value for money. For those looking to savor the essence of South African culinary traditions in a relaxed and home-like environment, Nguni is a top choice in Plettenberg Bay.
We sat outside in a beautiful setting. Service was very friendly and helpful. Food was just excellent, highly recommend the daily steak specials. They also have a great selection of wines. Quite a gem this place and hosted by lovely people! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
