Wence's - Pleasant Hill
Wence's
Description
A popular neighborhood seafood spot with a sunny patio, generous portions and memorable dishes like Rockefeller oysters and lobster chowder, ideal for date nights and special occasions. Diners praise the desserts and brunch but note inconsistent cooking (overdone proteins, oily pasta), spotty service (long waits, inattentive or curt servers) and cold bread at times. The restaurant is lively and often loud, parking is shared and limited, and reservations are recommended; vegetarian entrée options are scarce.

Ordered fish and chips..it was deep fried and I was sick rest of the day. The inside dining room is way too noisy hard to hear yourself speak Parking: Small lot to service 3 restaurants
We enjoyed our birthday night out here and did the early bird dinners. The lobster chowder was delicious and my chicken was very good as well. Dining companions had the pasta and enjoyed it, fish and chips, and the salmon. The gelato dessert was well presented and tasty as well. Portions are ample without being over the top. We would go back again.
Have enjoyed this restaurant for many years but last night had new server named Chris who truly elevated the experience. Well done Chris!
Wences is always great. Only thing that was a slight bummer, ordered mussels and at least 6 of them did not open. There's no way they didn't notice that as they were serving them. The oysters, hamachi crisp and scallops were awesome though. We love this spot and will be back!
The only issue we had was the bread that we asked for the table came refrigerator cold with brick hard butter. I called the server over and pointed out the issue and she said they served their bread cold and butter had to be refrigerated. She came back with slightly toasted bread with the same ice cold butter which you could not spread. I suggest Wences looks at other quality restaurants that serve bread and butter at room temperature. The entrees were very good.
