We have lived in the area for years and never stopped in but we finally did and I was blown away. We came in on a whim right when they opened at 5:30pm so we had the entire place to ourselves. We got the Lebanese Pilsner and Moroccan lager for drinks, hummus and pita bread, dolmas, and falafel to start. We split an entree of the couscous royal and finished with baklava and mint tea. Everything was beyond our expectat... View all feedback.

Our time at El Morocco was fantastic! The ambiance was warm and welcoming. Nader and his staff were very attentive, friendly, and thoughtful throughout our meal. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. I tried the vegetable kabobs while my husband enjoyed the delicious honey chicken. We will definitely return to this hidden gem in Pleasant Hill!
It's all a pleasant and delicious experience. You should ask for the full dinner and share because it's a ton of food you would not be able to stop eating! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
If you look at my review history, you'll see I never leave bad reviews. I HATE doing it. In this case, I'd like to warn others off this restaurant which is a tragically poor representation of a beautiful type of cuisine. Lamb: overdone, tough, tasteless. Vegetable served with the lamb were these canned? Honestly I couldn't tell. They were awful. Chicken: undercooked and inedible as a result. Vegetables were the same situation as above. Chicken bastilla WHAT? Just awful!! This is my favorite dish that I've experienced multiple times at many Moroccan restaurants. I wouldn't even consider this chicken bastilla by definition. Lentil soup. Just, ew. I spent 165 with tip. My dining partners were aghast. This was meant to be a special treat to celebrate an occasion. Avoid.
We found this place since the other breakfast place we wanted to go to had a 2 hour wait. I was glad we were able to get a table here. The owner was very welcoming and gave us great suggestions on what to order. There were 3 of us and we were quite hungry. Their coffee was very delicious and made to order. It didn’t need much milk or sugar and was not too bitter which was nice. Moroccans really make good coffee. We ordered a crepe with berries and whipped cream. The crepe was well cooked and the berries and whipped cream paired nicely together. The Bastilla was a phyllo dough stuffed with ground chicken, scrambled eggs, almonds and then topped with powdered sugar. It was crispy and a different texture all together. If I were to order again I would get without the powdered sugar. The Shakshuka was the best. I could’ve ordered a few orders of that. They serve it with some flat bread you use to pick it up and with the egg on top it made it extra delicious. It was a good mix of vegetables and tomatoes and spices and it just all melded well together. Glad we found this place and hope to stop by for dinner and to watch the belly dancer next time we are in town.
