We were in Plauen for a weekend. On the first evening we streamed through the old town and landed by chance at the “Matsch”, which is called the oldest restaurant Plauens. Behind the entrance door we first came to a hall where there were different doors. To the toilets we wanted (not yet, to the “Vereinszimmer” we did not dare so right, and so we entered the room with the vault. Operation Two young operators stood there and welcomed us friendly. If we had reserved, we were asked. When we agreed, the one consulted the reservation book and then said that it could only offer us a table until 19:30 if it was sufficient for us. We agreed, and the young lady led us into the club room, where in a kind of anteroom a table with two and another with four seats stood. On the question whether we might have the larger table that was closer to the window, she gave us a rejection that the table was already reserved from 18:30. So we took place at the small table, the service was enough for us the menus and then rushed further into the real club room where apparently there was a larger company. A few minutes later her colleague came and picked up our order, a supplemental order was easily possible. Apparently, the two young women, whose appearance did not correspond to the norms of conservative gastronomy, were responsible for the entire restaurant, and they mastered this task with Bravour. Flott, friendly, attentive and on Zack, so you want the service in every restaurant. Food The offer of the restaurant is a mixture of regional-bourgeois and international cuisine, there are local specialities as well as flame cakes and Mediterranean dishes. The complete menu can be viewed and downloaded as a .pdf file on the restaurant's homepage: [here link] Since we both liked local vogtland cuisine, the decisions were made quickly. Madame ordered “Vogtländischer Sauerbraten after old Matsch recipe with red cabbage, lumps or bambes (Reibekuchen “ (12.50 € ), which decided to make the clubs. In addition, she ordered a large mineral water without carbonic acid (0.4l for €2.90. I had already met the local cuisine during some business trips and ordered from this preliminary knowledge “Wildgulasch with homemade napkin dumplings and red cabbage” (13.50 €, where I exchanged the napkin dumplings for the local knocks. I liked a pils (0,4l for 2,90 €. After a little longer waiting period, during which the two operators brought food to the club room several times, we also got our food. At first glance, there was no big difference between the two plates, two lumps standing out of a dark bed of red cabbage and deep brown sauce. The only difference was that the Sauerbraten was in two slices, but the Gulasch was in pieces, but both were well hidden in the sauces. The wild goulash was perfect, the meat shredded at the pressure of the tongue. The red cabbage had exactly the correct consistency between al dente and mushy and the sauces were very well tasted. At the clubs, Madame had caught a specimen where the piece of bread in the middle was a little big, but the other on her plate and my two were very well advised. But the sour roast, in the opinion of Madame, was only very weakly sour, which I can confirm (yes, I had to stand back to her with her portion). Practically the same experience we had already had in Erfurt last year, and we therefore take the conclusion that in Saxony and Thuringia the Sauerbraten is not quite as acidic as in the Rhineland. Overall, however, both dishes were excellent and well-determined. Here, if we get back to Plauen, we'd like to return. Ambience The establishment of the place is, according to the specified age, rustic, with furniture from dark woods and partly with wood-planned wall sections. The predominant wood type was oak rustic, partly the wall panels were also painted with strong colors. The table tops consisted of wooden planks with a distance of about 5 mm, on them there were no table tops, but only centrally a napkin or a table runner. There is a candle in a black, perforated metal candle, an autumn cut in the glass and a basket with salt and pepper mills, as well as bottles with vinegar, oil and pepper sauce. The places were not covered in the way, cutlery and napkins were brought by the operators. Cleanliness Despite the rustic ambience, the guest room was perfectly clean and well maintained, with dishes, glasses and cutlery there was also no reason to criticise. I didn't visit the toilets, so I can't say anything.
Super tasty and very nice ambience/ we will surely go back to dinner when we are back in plums
Good food, friendly service, unfortunately forget a part of the order! Sauerbraten and Rouladen sell out what is not a problem in itself if you would have told the guests when submitting the map....! The ambience is beautiful and the food is very tasty.
