It was my first time visiting, and I absolutely loved it. I had the tenderloin, and I would rate it a perfect 10. My server, Vandel, was fantastic!
The club sandwich is pretty damn good. Along with a butterscotch root beer. And add whipped cream if you want it to taste like a butter beer.
This spacious restaurant has been a nostalgic spot for street food lovers for decades. The updated menu features a variety of contemporary dishes alongside classic favorites, like the cookies and gravy I enjoyed. My wife had her all-time favorite corn casserole, which she rated a perfect 10 out of 5. It's likely that we will make this our regular go-to place, even if it requires a bit of a drive. They serve the best sausage links around, and the fried eggs came out cooked to perfection. Residents of Plainfield are truly fortunate to have this gem in their area.
The diner has a charming atmosphere both inside and out. Its retro decor features vinyl records, 8-track and cassette tapes, vintage metal punch boxes, and old license plates adorning the walls. A wall-mounted TV constantly plays episodes of The Brady Bunch, adding to the nostalgic vibe. Since it was Mother's Day, the restaurant was quite busy. The limited space between some of the interior tables made it a bit challenging for wait staff and customers to move around comfortably. Perhaps rearranging the tables near the entrance could alleviate this issue. The menu is quite extensive, and I opted for the Welshaus (I apologize for not taking a photo). The fish portion was generous and very tasty, although I personally would have preferred it with less breading. I enjoyed the shoestring fries, and my husband found the coleslaw to be delicious. There is also outdoor seating available, and the overall maintenance of the establishment is commendable.
