Boa Vista Orchards - Placerville

This is an amazing place located right in the heart of Apple Hill! It's best to arrive early, especially on weekends and during the fall, as it's a popular destination for many visitors. They offer a fantastic selection of fruits, apple samples, gifts, and snacks, as well as wine and snack bars. And you absolutely must try their baked goods and ice cream – they're delicious! Just be prepared for large crowds later in the day. And don't forget to visit in October to pick out some pumpkins!

This place is a massive, carnival-style roadside market offering a variety of fruits, meats, and other products. You'll often find a grill serving up fresh meat, a bakery, freezers stocked with pies and ice cream, numerous artisan booths, and a wide array of other items for sale. Overall, it's a delightful spot to explore. While the entertainment options are limited, everything else runs smoothly. I recommend it!

If you're planning to visit for Mother's Day weekend, I suggest you reconsider. You'll end up waiting over two hours for only half of what their Strawberry Festival advertisements promise. There was no Strawberry Pie, no Strawberry Cobbler, and the Strawberry Sangria was very misleading. It was made with Blackberry Hard Cider and what tasted like imitation pink strawberry syrup, served in a tiny 4-ounce plastic cup with a single strawberry slice for $7.00—definitely not worth it and not good at all. The Strawberry Fudge also left a lot to be desired. The biggest disappointment was biting into a Strawberry Dumpling, only to find that most of the strawberries were rotten. Ugh! There’s nothing special about this event—it seems like just a cheap tactic by Boa to attract customers. I expected there to be activities for kids, like face painting or a strawberry character mascot, but there was nothing—just a few dollar-store strawberry decorations. It was too hot, not enjoyable, and the food was subpar. This was not how I wanted to spend the beautiful first weekend of great weather with my family. Overall, a big letdown, Boa. You missed the mark!

Beautiful place ... breathing fresh air amongst all these beautiful trees.. wide variety of apples in all forms, dried, sliced, cider, dipped and baked are magically delish ..Great outing for young lovers, old timers and families ... For singles like me I'd advise planning on spending a few hours just being in the moment, enjoy your slice of pie on a picnic table people watching ... Makes you feel good.. and appreciate so much more.
