FREEDOM!!! We love this place, beautiful view, great food and good service. We supported this business as much as we could when small business was being decimated in CA. Wonderful place for brunch! Watch the planes take off and land at the airport and enjoy music on the weekends. The owners are kind, patriots that want people to enjoy their establishment. Dog and kid friendly too. What Jessica R doesn't like about Apple Bistro:
I'm thrilled that this restaurant is no longer in business! The food was terrible, the service was unacceptable, and their blatant disregard for health code regulations and community welfare was shocking. It's hard to believe it took two years to close this place down; it should have happened in 2020. I sincerely hope the owners never have the opportunity to open another business in El Dorado County or anywhere else... View all feedback.
Not surprised this place closed down. When I visited back in 2021, the staff was incredibly rude and yelling at everyone to not wear masks...even though we were in the midst of the pandemic. They even yelled at old people, who are at higher risks of falling ill. Think it's your right to not wear masks? Fine, don't be rude to paying customers who want to wear theirs. They got what they asked for.
Was pleasantly surprised when I drove by today and saw sign saying that tha property was available . I guess the whole FREE-Dom mantra worked well here. Not at all sorry to see this go.
I came here on the first of January 2022, New Year 's Day, with some friends who insisted this was a great place that had excellent biscuits and gravy. They did not tell us about this place and drove us almost over 40 minutes to get here. When we drove by I didn 't know this was the place we were eating and from the road a huge sign can be seen that states no masks allowed and I openly said well that 's stupid considering we 're in a global pandemic . We pulled up and I was already wondering what stupidity I would witness inside. I 'm triple vaxed and wear a mask wherever I go. I complied with their no mask rules because I 'd take off my mask to eat anywhere else and hoped for the best. The food was not that great. There 's a ton of mom and pops that could really use the business. Supporting this place with even 36$ of my hard earned cash was a huge mistake. It wasn 't even that good. There wasn 't anything in the bakery section it was empty. I 'd like to comment that they only take cash which is a huge red flag for me. They probably avoid claiming that money and paying taxes and reap the benefits of tax breaks and state or gov subsidies they likely complain that liberals have put in place for people who really don 't make much money. That 's called being entitled. They have signs all over that are unwelcoming and disturbing. I posted a few I took photos of. They say, Please keep all weapons holstered unless need arises, in such case, judicious marksmanship is appreciated. No masks allowed for everyone 's health and safety. They believe in gun safety but not germ safety. Weird and disturbing place. That gloves are dirty germ spreaders. My eyes cant roll hard enough. What do you think happens in hospitals if you think this way? Would you like to find out? You probably will find out by eating here. Their phone answering machine message is disturbing as well. They know what they 're doing is rude, careless and disrespectful to the community and they clearly don 't care. You 're a community business that serves travelers and you don 't care that you 're making your community and your passers through safe in a global pandemic with all the information out there. It 's really terrible. Also, spewing that you believe in freedom then infringing on the freedom of others to protect themselves is hypocritical. I wouldn 't patronize this business again. I do not recommend it to anyone. Maybe this place previously had a hay day but this is not at all it for them. Waste of a good apple hill view.
I 've eaten here several times, but my favorites are the Bistro Burger and the cinnamon rolls. Yesterday, I picked up cinnamon rolls to take home to my family because we love them and because we need to support this business. They 're still getting hammered by the county for staying open during the pandemic. I have to say that this restaurant was a Godsend during the peak of the 'Rona; it was one of the only places you could go to share a meal with family and friends, and feel normal. We have to support the businesses willing to take a stand for freedom. So, when you go, take cash, they are unable to process credit and debit cards, thanks to El Dorado County tyrants.
They deleted my old review because they had too many from people that hadn 't actually been there. From personal experience I can tell you that first when my family and I walked in we noticed the no mask policy and weren 't completely comfortable but decided it was ok if we sat outside. We didn 't comment on it but while we were quietly waiting for our table they told us hey, read the sign insinuating we need to take our masks off? Don 't get how us following public health guidelines is a problem for them. I saw servers taking peoples ' cards and touching all sorts of stuff then sticking their bare hands in the ice bucket, so I asked for hot tea and coffee. Our serve was please t but forgot one of our drinks. We didn 't comment on it because at that point we just wanted to get the hell out of there. They had some live country music which was chill. I like country, but definitely fitting with the Non welcoming Patriot atmosphere. For a place that preaches freedom so much, they really infringe on anyone that doesn 't think like them even if you 're minding your business just wanting pie and coffee after a camping trip. They had a pretty ridiculous sign that was anti mask, anti gloves, and anti common sense (jk the last one). And since then they 've doubled down with some crazy legal mumble jumble from a fake attorney (not licensed). They lost their county license but from what I understand can still operate because there 's enough loonies in town that like spreading contagious disease and don 't care about their community.
