Good Sushimi. Went there for lunch downtown. Good sushimi...wish the place was bigger...way too crowded for lunch. I recommend but go early fills up quickly at Noon View all feedback.
What Asha Advani doesn't like about Penn Avenue Fish Company:
Went for lunch. Sushi was good. Mussels were also tasty. Fish tacos, lobster roll and crab sandwich we're all low on salt and flavor. Portions were generous.Food: 3/5 View all feedback.
Fresh fish no doubt but $45 for 1.3 lbs of triple tail? The workers need to wear hats/hair nets. One very young man’s brown hair hangs down covering the front of his face while filleting my overpriced fish. The girls working the register have always been snooty for whatever reason, just immature it seems. I’d rather get my fish at Sam’s club or the Eagle.
The service was awful. The waitresses kept walking by without acknowledging us. After waiting for 10 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant, my family and I decided to leave.
The spicy gumbo was fantastic! I tried the lunch special with blackened shrimp salad, and it was a delightful combination—absolutely delicious! We returned for a second visit and discovered they offer oysters for just a dollar in the afternoon!
This place has some of the freshest seafood I've ever tasted, and the customer service was exceptional. As we approached the counter, the fishmonger greeted us. When we requested cod, he informed us that they had just received a fresh shipment that morning. He promptly went to the back and returned with a box of cod, selecting a piece to ensure we were happy with its quality. He then inquired how many people we were serving and carefully trimmed each piece of fish, laying them out side by side on the cutting board for us to see. After confirming we were satisfied with the presentation, he had his assistant wrap our fish and place it on ice, even including a fresh lemon in the bag. I also needed panko bread crumbs, and when I noticed some damage on the label of the last box, the fishmonger quickly offered us panko from the market's private stock in a plastic quart container. He continued to check if we needed anything else and personally carried our order to the register for checkout. What an outstanding experience—so rare these days! Thank you, Penn Fish Market, for such top-notch service. I will definitely be back!
