I absolutely loved this place! Located in the lobby of the Tryp hotel in Lawrenceville, this restaurant was once a trade school, and you can still see some of that heritage reflected in its decor, like the lockers in the café area and the repurposed gym floor artfully displayed on the restaurant wall. They offer live music during the week and on weekends, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The menu is eclectic, and th... View all feedback.
What Joshua doesn't like about Brick Shop Tryp:
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I made a reservation for a morning brunch through OpenTable, but when I arrived, there was no one at the host stand and the entire restaurant was completely empty. I went to the hotel front desk to ask if anyone would come to seat us, and the concierge rudely informed me that they don't accept reservations for Brick Shop, even though I had the confirmation right in my h... Modern minimalist style. Middle restaurant and bar. We were a party of two pairs. The two men had well-made Manhattan cocktails and wine with dinner, and the ladies stayed with wine. We all had to begin the beet-Arugula salad, my date loved it; I would have done half a salad. Three of us had salmon on Risotto with asparagus; All were delicious, but the Risotto was only lukewarm and distracted from the meal. One of us had the short ribs; they oved it and we were all jealous of the dish. The other couple ordered a beautiful limoncello cake for dessert. Two of us ordered coffee; it was free, but the disadvantage was that it was served in Styrofoam cups, it was lukewarm, and it tasted like gas station coffee. A restaurant that can cost $120 for two (including alcohol, wine and taxes, but not tips) should serve real coffee. All right, but the food should be warmer and they should have real coffee. One day we were surprised to find live music (a singer/guitarist), but the music was too loud for speaking. The music was very pleasant, just too loud.
The food was okay. The drinks were okay. Everything was a little over priced. Valet is $10 for guests even though the entire lot was empty. I probably wouldn't make it a point to return.
I recently dined at this historic restaurant, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. The atmosphere was charming and cozy, with a rustic vibe that truly made me feel like I was stepping back in time. The history of the restaurant was also a highlight for me, as a brick mason, I was particularly impressed with the building's structure and the way it was beautifully preserved. But what really stood out for me was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Cody. Not only was he incredibly friendly and attentive, but he also took the time to explain the history of the restaurant to us in great detail, which made the experience all the more special. The quality of food was also outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The flavors were well-balanced and expertly crafted, making for a truly memorable meal. And to top it off, the prices were very reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of food and service. In short, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. The atmosphere, history, service, quality of food, and price all deserve a five-star rating. And a special shout-out to Cody, who made the evening even more enjoyable with his fantastic service. Keep up the great work! Five Stars!
There on a Tuesday night. Almost no one else there (although Opentable said 7PM reservation for 3 was not available). Food and service were both mediocre at best. Almost not a real restaurant. Would go elsewhere
I was really excited to be able to have poutine. The menu stated it as being gluten free which made me happy because usually most gravies are not gluten free. However, they were out of the short rib. I ordered a classic burger without a bun and fries. Bartender was nice and made us lemon cello spritz drinks that were delicious and refreshing.
