Stopped in there for brunch, happy I did. The staff was helpful in making recommendations. Food was really good. I ordered the chicken and biscuit with a side of cheesy grits. I cannot recommend the dish highly enough. The pickled peaches worked so wellwith the spicy chili honey sauce. OMG my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. I'm going back to try their dinner menu, and definitely back again for brunch. They had some tasty options.
We get to enjoy the Root Cellar almost once every weekend. Chef Sera is the best. The way she blends local, fresh foods with combinations you would not expect is incredible. I also love the menu changes often so we get to try different dishes all thetime. She is a Food Master!!!!
The food is great the owner is not so much. We were outside next door a few months back and were outside with our kids at their neighbor, house of hops. We turned on a heater for the kids. Root cafe was closed but the owner made sure to come out andreprimand us like we were the kids. She let us know the heaters were for customers. I mentioned that we used to come all thetime.... when they used to actually be open. And actually came out intending to go there but they were closed again. Shereiterated they were for their paying customers and did not invite us to continue using for the kids. I refuse to go back asgood as they were. writing this post made me mad all over again and I honestly contemplate if 3 stars is too many ????
Walk-in takeout order placed for spicy noodles. Fail on taste, price, portion, and service. Spent almost $20 for minimal portion (see photo), tasted like just straight soy sauce for seasoning, and less than friendly service. Will not return.
Nobody there. You would have thought they would have treated us like something precious since they had virtually no customers while we were there over an hour. >30 minute wait on our food. Nobody came to tell us the status. When we checked, were told Five more minutes . It was as if they called the chef at home and said Hey We 've got some live ones, want to come in andcook something? . $90 for family of 4 without alcohol. Ravioli was very salty (we 're not on a low salt diet, but it wasdifficult to eat it was so salty). Hamburger was pink inside. Fries and chicken pot pie were good. Fire pit not on, patioheaters no on, they were putting away the signs on the patio while we were still eating as if they were ready to be done for thenight. Everybody was at the bar next door instead of this place. Won 't be back. They are only open a couple of days per week perthe sign on the door, and I don 't know how they are affording the lease. That recent tv segment interviewing the chef brought usin with the fresh seasonal ingredients, squash, pumpkin pie spiel, but this experience won 't bring us back. Maybe she is justfor marketing.
