After a morning at the market in Pisac we were ready to leave the hustle and bustle of the town but not quite ready to return to Cusco. Alter Inca Restaurante Café provided the perfect place to stop. Located a 10 minute drive outside of Pisac, it sits on the hillside overlooking the Sacred Valley and Urubamba River. The view is breath-taking, the food excellent, and the service impeccable. Our party ordered three different chaulafan: vegetables with rice, vegetables with quinoa, and chicken with rice. All three were delicious. We also ordered an avocado sandwich, which was as fresh and tasty as could be. Coca tea and chichi morada (purple corn juice) finished off our meal. All was served promptly by the smiling Gabriella, who also acted as hostess. If you are looking for a place to stop between Cusco and Pisac for a refreshing beverage or relaxing meal, look no further than Alter Inca. The view alone is to dine for. Add to that delicious food and excellent service, and you’ve got a win-win-win.
We drive past this restaurant en route to the Sunday market in Pisac. after finishing our haggling at the market, we wanted to have lunch in a more tranquil setting befor heading to the Cuzco airport for a late afternoon flight. We decided against restaurants in Pisac, since it was now crowded and noisy.I mentioned seeing the restaurant near a mirador we stopped at for photos, but couldn't remember the name. We stopped, and it was open. Gabriella, our charming host, assured us that our vegetarian diets would not be disappointed. We has a truly enjoyable meal and a superb view of the Sacred Valley below. Very reasonable prices, S 120 (about $40 US) for a delicious lunch for 3 people, including our guide, Henri...My wife will write a separate review with more details and photos of the food. If you are going to/from Pisac, this is a wonderful spot for a great meal at a reasonable price...
As we were traveling in the Sacred Valley near Cuzco, our driver took us to this restaurant on the highway near the Inca ruin of Pisaq. The restaurant is perched on the edge of an outcropping, overlooking the Sacred Valley. The view is fantastic, showing the entire valley as it winds northward. The restaurant has many fascinating items on display relating to the Inca, and the hostess was excellent in sharing her knowledge about the culture. She gave us the traditional Inca beer to start our meal, and we had chicken, which was tasty with large portions. If you're traveling through the Sacred Valley, this is the place to stop and have lunch!
