Lochmara Lodge - Picton

I highly recommend this place! We had a wonderful family day filled with activities. We interacted with dolphins while on the boat, fed eels, kunekune pigs, and chickens. We visited the glass bottom boat reef project and even fed a stingray. We spent time at the touch tank, getting to hold starfish and more. We also enjoyed playing on the beach, kayaking in the sheltered bay, and had a lovely lunch. The staff is fantastic and very knowledgeable, especially Siobhan, who guided us throughout our visit. We will definitely be back!

I traveled solo and stayed in a twin room for five nights. The room was spotless and was cleaned thoroughly every day. Housekeeping quickly fulfilled my request for a different type of tea and made sure I knew how to operate the heating, as I come from a tropical climate. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with plenty of interesting activities available, including an amazing underwater reef observatory and the opportunity to feed various animals. There are also informative signs featuring local flora and fauna. Dining is provided at the on-site café, which offers good food throughout the day. For the first time in what feels like ages, I enjoyed a steak cooked just the way I like it! The water taxi service to and from the lodge was quick and comfortable, and the staff were incredibly helpful. Thank you to everyone at the unique Lochmara. I will definitely be returning soon!

Incredible restaurant! The staff is super friendly. We visited for the day and enjoyed every moment. The kids loved exploring and checking out the animals, especially during feeding time, which was a blast! The highlight for us was definitely the hammock area, where we spent a couple of hours just relaxing. The view is absolutely stunning! I highly recommend this place! We can't wait to return. Fabulous! We had the friendliest of welcomes swiftly followed by a delicious dinner. I desperately needed a good massage after the 33km trek of the Queen Charlotte track and it was far better than good. The rooms were great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. One of my best experiences! Thanks everyone at Lochmara Lodge!!
