What Petronella Kakalis doesn't like about Mandarin Restaurant:
I visited here for dinner last night. I recall years ago that Mandarin had MANY chinese food selections. Not anymore. There was only ONE vegetable selection, and two noodle choices. The Won Ton soup was flavourless. On the plus side, they had an impressive sushi...and maki sushi buffet, which is my favourite. They offer a beef carving station, pizza, and wide salad bar but this is not part the chinese food buffet var... View all feedback.
We love the Mandarin in Pickering. We always try to get seated where Danny is working. Excellent service and the selection and quality of the food is great.
Wide variety of Chinese and Japanese food. Lots of salads and desserts. You really need to come on an empty stomach.
Went on a Saturday night to celebrate our daughter's birthday. At $32/ head for the adults and half price for our 11 yr old, the bill came to $101 w/ tax
Went to the Mandarin for a birthday meal with the extended family. Arrived about 4:30 on a Tuesday. Seating was prompt. No lineup. Table service was very quick. The array of food was amazing. Not just "Chinese foods." Had not been to a Mandarin in about 8 years. Some subtle changes. People still toss coins into the fish pond. I was not disappointed. I was not able to sample most of the food. Not that hungry that night.Staff was very pleasant. I found the seating very cumbersome as the chair legs did not slide at all on the carpet. You almost had to be pried out of your seat to get to the food. Created a few awkward moments for the elderly folks.
A bunch of our Chartwell residents have been going here about once a month for several months now. We have enjoyed the food but have found that it is getting kind of expensive for we seniors to be able to afford. We may not be able to get a group together for future ventures. I have noticed that the water they serve, reminds me of swimming pool water, seems very chlorinated taste. Service is good for those items you need extra.
