My family has been to Beryl’s a number of times and tried a number of the dishes: goat curry, fried chicken, jerk chicken as well as the desserts. The food has been consistently good and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very casual. View all feedback.
What Annette T doesn't like about Beryl's Pepper Pot:
I tried to call in my order and was told no I have to come in and order. The ladies working there hate their jobs I'm sure, very rude and irritable. The food tasted yummy but the large oxtail and large jerk chicken were 80% rice. Was supposed to be a leg and 2 thighs, the thigh was cut in half. Most of the oxtail was just a bone and the ones that had meat barely had any. Paid a good price for these dishes and I feel... View all feedback.
I visited Beryl Pepper Pot on June 16, 2019 at around 2:20pm with my 3-year-old son and partner. We waited 13 minutes to be seated, which was understandable due to the restaurant being busy. However, once we were seated, it took 8 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order. We then waited 12 more minutes for her to inform us that they didn't have clean glasses for water. After a total of 17 minutes, we finally received water and ginger beer. We waited a total of 32 minutes for our food before I became frustrated and requested to speak to the manager. I ended up canceling my order and paying only for the ginger beer. The lack of professionalism from the staff was unbelievable and I would not recommend this restaurant. We ended up going to the Italian restaurant next door instead. The business seemed poorly run and was overall a disappointing experience.
I arrived at the restaurant at 10:37am on a Monday morning. There were no other customers besides myself. I ordered a small chicken soup and Ting drink at the takeout counter. I had some time to spare before my appointment at 11:30am in the same plaza, so I asked if I could quickly eat my soup at a table in the dining room. Unfortunately, I was denied access to the dining room because I had ordered at the takeout counter. Despite pointing out that there were no other customers present, the staff member insisted that was the policy. This experience left a bad impression on me, and I will not be returning to this restaurant. Additionally, I overheard from the cook at the old downtown Oshawa location that he had engaged in inappropriate behavior with a girl at the chef's table in the back. I cannot recommend dining at this establishment.
The excellent service is a wonderful complement to the already fresh and delicious dishes. We appreciate the effort to distinguish yourselves from other restaurants where customer service and manners are lacking. The stew chicken, oxtail, fried snapper with rice and peas, and curry goat roti were all exceptional! Thank you.
I ordered a large jerk chicken and rice and peas with coleslaw.I didn't get no coleslaw and I only got 3 small pieces of chicken. Rice and peas was so dry no gravy and which I told them to add. This is the 4th time I ordered food and very disappointed.
Lady taking orders at cash was so bored she was unfriendly. Hard to know where to order people just standing around. Unfortunately the food was as good as the service. Wont be returning.
