I'm not sure why Google keeps prompting me to rate Cappleman's Fish, but it might be because I often visit the quirky jumble sale store in the back of the marketplace when I'm in Pickering. After facing difficulty finding a restaurant in Pickering on a chilly and rainy Monday evening, we stumbled upon Capplemans. What a gem! We were quickly served a cold beer, followed by a generous portion of freshly made fish cakes, chips, and mushy peas. My wife ordered the fish pie, which was also delicious and of high quality.
This fish and chips dish was delicious with perfectly cooked, crispy batter and accompanied by friendly service. What more could you ask for?
Absolutely brilliant restaurant. Food (haddock chips with mushy peas) was delicious and freshly cooked to order. Staff were great, really friendly and helpful. Excellent choice of drinks and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we're in Pickering.

Food was lovely, staff was really helpful my wife is vegetarian and the chips were cooked in vegetable oil and she had veggie curry. I however paid the extra pound for the food long sausage with my chips and wasn't disappointed. All the staff we spoke to were smiling and polite. Will definitely eat here again.
