During our vacation in Phuket, a friend recommended the Takieng Restaurant, located in a remote corner of the Renaissance resort. We made a reservation and were prepared for a fight. Once we state that we were vegetarians, they presented a vegetarian menu with decent choices. The food was tasty and cook even made a free spring roll for us. One of the best vegetarian Thai food we had on this trip. We will definitely make another trip there.

Dining alone, I ordered a variety of appetizers, Moo Hong (a local Phuket dish), and jasmine rice. The flavor of Moo Hong was bold and best enjoyed with steamed rice. The appetizers, especially the Bua Thod – deep-fried local vegetables, were delicious. I appreciated Khun Prae's knowledge about the food, such as Pak Lin Ped being a local vegetable unique to the Mai Khao Beach area. This was my first time trying it and it was a memorable experience. If you are in Phuket, this restaurant is a must-visit. However, there is room for improvement in the service for a better dining experience. I had to wait over 5 minutes for Khun Boom to seat me, and refilling a glass of water took some time.
