Reviews - Ocotillo

Organic, American, Breakfast-brunch

Reviews summary

Ocotillo is a popular Phoenix restaurant that received mixed reviews from customers. While some patrons found the food and service to be excellent, others were disappointed by cold dishes, slow service, and unimpressive food quality. The ambiance was generally praised, but issues with parking and staff training were highlighted. Despite the varied feedback, Ocotillo offers a sophisticated menu with creative cocktails, vegan options, and tasty dishes in a cozy setting. Whether you're looking for a neighborhood gastropub with delicious beers and snacks, a special occasion venue with great ribs, or a spot for a fun brunch or New Year's celebration, Ocotillo has something for everyone.

What maple dislikes about Ocotillo:

Very underwhelming. The food came out cold on multiple courses. The filet mignon dish was way too salty. The drinks were watery. The service was extremely slow even when empty. The ambiance was nice but that is all I would recommend. View all feedback.

Menu doesn’t match what they serve. Charged us the price for two 2018 bottles of wine and served us two 2022 bottles and refused to acknowledge their mistake or discount anything for the difference. Their response was well that 's unfortunate. We didn 't want anything for free just a fair price adjustment on a bill that was for 16 people. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $100+

Very disappointed with service. Food was good but no warning regarding spiciness, no accommodations if you can’t tolerate the dish, you pay regardless. Be careful of upselling too! Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–100

I've heard a lot about ocotillo restaurant but having never been, wasn't sure what to expect. Our good friends asked if we wanted to celebrate our Anniversaries together this year and go out to dinner there. It did not disappoint. My New York strip was seasoned to perfection and so tender and flavorful. My husband had the prime rib and he loved his too. We have to agree that thus far these were the best steaks we've had so far in Arizona and we've been to The Stockyard Steak44. We will be back!

Ambience ???????? The place has an absolutely beautiful ambience and is a huge space as well. There is an option for outdoor seating as well as an indoor seating. The outside seating provides you with a better experience with nice huge picnic tablesseating whereas the indoor is more formal. Food ???? However, we weren’t impressed with the food. We ordered few differentthings which were good but lacked the WOW factor. 1. Pork chops we ordered were raw and under cooked, we had to send it back. 2.The beef ribs were tasty and the portion size of the dish is massive. 3. The vegetarian options were nice as well. 4. The pastaswere a highlight and the best among the lot. 5. Good alcohol options 6. The desserts were good but again did lack that wowfactor.

Absolutely stellar place. The seating was really good, same with the scenery. Not to mention the service was decent, where they were really fast at serving. Kudos to the chefs, who made the awesome food that I could not in a million years recreate.Overall, a very atmospheric place to visit in Phoenix.

A beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Appetizers were a hit preserved strawberries was unique. We had grilled peach salad with burrata and papparadelle, pork chop and squid ink pasta. It would be good to have an option for less spicy red sauce.Overall, it was a lovely evening.

Excellent spot for a date night! If it’s cooler, I suggest sitting outdoors, it’s beautiful! The indoor seating is pretty crowded so all conversation can be heard by neighboring tables. We got the chicken and ribs. Both were cooked excellent andtasted great. The fires that came with the ribs were good. The ginger mint lemonade was good. Only knock I have is that a lot ofthe food wasn’t necessarily my “cup of tea”. Our waitress also was less attentive when another party came in and startedordering many more items than us.

We came as a women’s social club called Girl, You Need To Get Out! Arizona. We had 20 ladies that arrived as strangers and left as friends! Ocotillo is absolutely incredible between the servers, the menu, delicious drinks, and the amazing atmosphere we had the best night! We even saw fireworks! Parking is a breeze and plenty. You can’t go wrong here for a corporate event , a private intimate date night, or a family gathering. We’ve continued to diner here for different events we’ve hosted and we always come back!

Food is always inventive and very tasty! Service was perfect. Patio is a nice spot to sit, though the misters can be intense. Another lovely meal for us out-of-towners.

Great place for happy hour!! Just check about outdoor seating. It bothers me when they rent out all their outdoor space for private parties in one night. Seems wrong. But food and service indoors was great.

Parking was easy. Restaurant was noisy. Food was good, expensive, but tasty. Service could have been better. Told us fish of the was halibut but Salmon was served. It was a bit overdone but tasty. Nice place to go in downtown Phoenix.

Ocotillo provides a top-notch dining experience with great food, drinks, atmosphere, and a family-friendly environment. However, the Sidecar concept falls short with frustrating and inferior experiences. While Ocotillo offers a seamless and enjoyable experience, Sidecar lacks in various aspects such as limited happy hour options, a separate drink menu, and inconsistent beer selection. Overall, Ocotillo is outstanding while Sidecar disappoints, making it one of the worst dining options in Phoenix.

Beautiful grounds with fire pits and lots of outdoor seating. Service was good but it took the food a long time to come out during happy hour.

Wow, I was blown away by this great restaurant in Phoenix. It is a very nice place w a lot of indoor outdoor seating. There were 5 of us we were seated quickly on a Sat AM. We ordered a bottle of champagne orange juice for mimosas. We had a great avocado toast dish, an awesome arugula salad, a smoked salmon plate, and a great chicken and pancake (not waffles) breakfast. My salmon plate was so tasty w a nice spread that included capers, pickles, onions, peppers, a boiled egg a very tasty bread. Every plate was beautifully presented very tasty. This is one of my top 5 places to return to on the regular.

Food was amazing! Highly recommend the honey fried chicken w/ skillet pancake, and cinnamon roll french toast! The ginger mint lemonade is also sooo good and refreshing.

Ambience????? The place has an absolutely beautiful ambience and is also a great space. There is an option for outdoor seats as well as an indoor seat. The outdoor seat offers you a better experience with beautiful giant picnic table sessions, while the interior is more formal. Eating???? But we were not impressed by food. We ordered some different things that were good, but the WOW factor was missing. 1. Pig chops we ordered were raw and boiled, we had to send them back. 2. The beef ribs were delicious and the portion size of the bowl is massive. 3. The vegetarian options were also beautiful. 4. The pastas were a highlight and the best under the game. 5. Good alcohol options 6. The desserts were good, but again this wow factor was missing.

Second visit to this beautiful room, and it was a certain hit. Reserved for two and since we had a little early a drink at the bar. The wine list is very cool, with an unusual symbolic profile for each selection. Really pretty cool so you know exactly what you get when you order. Excellent BTG selection. Interesting list of house special cocktails. Very recommended if you're in the mood for something else. After our liberation, we sat at a very comfortable stand near the bar, in view of the kitchen that was concentrated with the cooking laser on their stations. The menu had changed since our first visit, so we were interested in tasting new things. We'll share a salad. All are big enough to share. We chose the watermelons, mango, avocado, arugula with roasted coconut. Superb. Very refreshing with an excellent selection of textures and beautiful balance of sweeter mango and melon with the pfefferic Arugula. Also perfectly dressed. Next was a Halibut ceviche. Great part too. Halibut succulent, do not chew as some can be when the acid is applied too early. Ripe tomatoes added a beautiful color and put the tomatillo purée beautiful. The surprising addition of corn nuts really made the dish, as it added a large piece of crunch and saltiness. Well done. Third, a Pita and spicy Dahl dish came with listed shishito peppers, olives and a bit of salad. The Dahl was excellent, not really hot spicy, but very tasteful with just enough kick. A good meatless choice and enough to share. For Entrees, the lady had the scallops from the small plate section. Perfectly shipped with beautiful crust outside and buttery smooth inside. Sauce had enough acid to make the buttery scallops pop! I chose the Crispy Duck Confit. Again a great part. Ducks fall from the bone delicate, but crispy crispy skin intact. Accompanied by some stone base belts and a sweet cherry based Relish, which was a great counterpoint to the wealth of the duck. At that time we were too full and Dessert was not in the cards for us... next time. Can't wait until summer heat goes down and the terrace opens. Will be a great place for lunch or dinner... or to meet drinks! Oh, BTW... service was excellent. If you go, you should appreciate yourself if Eli is your guy. He's great, so we're the bartenders! We'll be back with friends soon. Go!

Even with a small seat snafu, my Korgis and I enjoyed an incredible time in great atmosphere, wonderful service and one of the best meals in my life, hands down. Salmon, egg, shallot and toast plate with smoked beet on Ricotta with pistachios. Every bite was electrifying. The kindness and the dogs accessible beer garden terrace were worth every second. Go to Ocotillo. You read this now, but you could be there and enjoy your life. Just do it.
