Spanish Island - Philadelphia

Leaving a review for the sole purpose of hoping to see greater changes. In no way is this a negative review just wanted to extend my personal review and experience. The food is okay but definitely can be great if a few changes can be made such as please wear a hair net, I notice NOONE wears a hair net and that's a big NO for me as hair and other stuff that can be found on the scalp fall into the food and some of the staff has long hair and they really should wear hair nets. Safety and sanitation should be a priority. I also believe in they can be more organized, where as they can have 2 or 3 staff focus solely on all online orders and have a few other staff focus on any customer that walks in to order have 2 different counter for those specific area because i was there yesterday and it was so unorganized and a mess. I saw customers wait as long as almost an hour and all these online orders were being picked up on the same counter as regular customer which is a bit confusing. I would really focus on a more organized flowing routine that won't have customer waiting for more then 20 mins for their food especially when it's simple orders. Let's please NOT forget the Hair nets.. they already dot wear aprons. At least wear some hair net or something to cover your head to keep the food clean and avoiding pieces of hair to be found in someone's order. Something to really think about and how some stuff are packed as well.

I order Uber Eats and the food came quick. It was still hot when it arrived. The rice was flavorful and I thought the mixed veggies were going to be the frozen kind but they were whole mixed veggies. The pork was good but the steak was tough. I would definitely eat here again even in person.

So I would like to just share this story with the world so that maybe the good deed that the great people at Spanish Island did for me tonight won't go unnoticed and maybe it will cause them to have a few more customers than they normally would because it is rare to find the type of kindness or any type of kindness for that matter in business establishments these days when it comes to not having money. So basically I've been wanting to get myself some stewed beef white rice and some beans for quite some time now and I will be leaving the area for about 3 months at the end of the week so I made sure I made it over to Spanish Island to get myself what I want it now mind you it's a very rainy day today and I've been up all night packing so I'm just very tired and exhausted well I go into Spanish Island and I let them know that I wanted to pay with a prepaid Visa gift card that I received from doing an online survey I didn't have the physical card I only had the numbers expiration date CBV etc and they told me it wouldn't be a problem well I forgot and didn't realize that I spent some money off the Visa and didn't bring any other forms of payment with me and there wasn't enough money on the Visa after me trying to figure something out for tops maybe 2 minutes The kind amazing and huge hearted female that was working the cash registered told me not to worry about it gave me the food and handed me back the money that I gave her that I pulled from out of my pockets and bag which was about four bucks maybe a little less and she said don't worry about it well I promised her that tomorrow I would bring the money for the food and rest assured I will bring that money and some extra for her but this is something that I've ran into similar situations in the past and never as an establishment done that for me so I've always had a pleasant experience with these people their food is always great it's just all around a great place to go and get something good to eat and be around warm-hearted caring human beingsKid-friendliness: These people are kid friendly dog friendly cat friendly rock friendly car friendly these people are just friendly and great people go see for yourself . Take my review as proof I don't do reviews I don't spend the time to write all this out just so a few people can see it but I felt an obligation to let people know how great these people areyou not toParking: Anytime I've ever gone there there's been an abundant amount of parking Don't worry about thatWheelchair accessibility: They literally have thought of everyone and anyone who would like to come and try their amazing Latin cuisine so if you're in a wheelchair don't worry you will be able to easily make it into the restaurant and find yourself a nice place to enjoy the great food and people

No seasoning this probably the worst Spanish food I ever ate in my life like literally never eatting here again when I say NO SEASONING ON THE DRY MEAT it’s literally none like they literally just cooked the meat and didn’t add nothing to it smh I’m so disappointed ? Spanish food normally got flavor YALL need to taste test the food like seriously this is unbelievable

Customer Service with a smile . The food was less than stellar. I ordered a Spanish chicken sandwich and a side of plantains. The plantains were flavorful and crispy. While the sandwich was bland. Once I saw the meat being warmed up in the microwave i knew it wasn't going to be good. The sandwich was arranged sloppily, lacked flavor, and the dipping sauce added nothing to the sandwich. I'd recommend you not get this sandwich if you want your money's worth.
