The fish is excellent quality and there's a range of sushi/sashimi/rolls at varying prices. The staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable. I've been going here since they opened and the food has been consistently good. Of the three sushi places in Fishtown, this is my favorite. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Daci Annabel doesn't like about Dawa Sushi And Ramen:
Service was okay. There was only one person servicing the tables. The eggs were not very good. I would have enjoyed an entire corn instead of a slab. Pork belly bun was okay. Very pricey for the quality of food. Tea was good!Food: 3/5 View all feedback.
Honestly, the ramen tasted like chicken oodles and noodles. It was basic. I've had waayyy better ramen. I also had a sushi roll and that was great and flavorful! I also order the duck bao buns and they were really sweet. Not wat I was expecting at all. I really didn't like it so I ask the server to return it. She argued with me for about 3 minutes. I assured her that I wasn't trying to be rude but that I just did not care for the bao buns. Finally, she sucked her teeth and snatched the plate out of my hand and left furiously. So yeah, the service sucks. Honestly folks, don't waste your time here. You'll find better ramen and greater service elsewhere. Trust me on this one.
While I enjoy the place and food for what it is, my only complaint is passing down your merchant service fees to your customers. The sign will go unnoticed, until actually told about it, or when you see the non-cash service fee on your bill. Do better.
The fish here is top-notch, and there’s a variety of sushi, sashimi, and rolls available at different price points. The staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. I've been a customer since they opened, and the food has always been consistently good. Out of the three sushi spots in Fishtown, this one is my favorite. I highly recommend it!
Next, we tried the CRISPY RICE ($14), featuring bluefin tuna, creamy tobanjan, and pickled serrano peppers. This dish was a must-try! It reminded me of the sticky rice we enjoy during certain holidays, but thankfully, it didn't stick to my teeth. The blend of warm, savory flavors and the crispness of the rice paired beautifully with the cooler, creamy sushi texture. For our main course, we ordered a few rolls: the AVOCADO TUNA ROLL, AVOCADO SALMON ROLL, YELLOWTAIL ROLL, along with the BRAISED PORK BAO ($10) and ROASTED DUCK BAO ($10). All of the sushi rolls were delicious, featuring generous pieces of fish with just a thin layer of rice. The baos came two to an order, and the pork bao had a nice chunky piece of pork that was a bit fatty. Both baos were drizzled with a sweet sauce, which I found a tad overwhelming, but otherwise, they were quite enjoyable. Lastly, I appreciated that the staff were friendly and that the restaurant is BYOB. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience!
The food was incredible—fresh and fairly priced. The only downside was the difficulty of finding parking on a Friday night, but aside from that, I highly recommend it!
