What Jim Calo dislikes about Springhill:
The lunch buffet for $25 is quite pricey, especially since that includes a drink and tip. I've been coming here since '96, but wow, the prices have really gone up! View all feedback.

It has been several years since I last visited this restaurant, as I don’t dine out often. A friend suggested we meet for lunch today, and I immediately agreed because I recalled that the food was quite good. Upon arriving for the lunch service, I approached the all-you-can-eat bar and was amazed by how fresh everything appeared and tasted. This place is truly a gem in Pflugerville!

I would like to rate this restaurant 3.5 stars if possible. The catfish and the catfish/shrimp baskets deserve a full 5 stars; they were perfectly cooked and came with delicious tartar and cocktail sauces. The cole slaw was also quite good. However, the chicken fried steak only gets 2 stars because it had too much gristle and was underseasoned. The peach cobbler was also disappointing, earning just 2 stars due to the lack of peach filling, and it seemed like it was probably the last serving left in the pan. As for the atmosphere and cleanliness, I give it 2 stars as well; there was a noticeable amount of greasy dust on the window next to our booth.

Tucked away in the heart of Pflugerville, Springhill Restaurant is a charming find that serves up a delightful array of Southern comfort food classics. Their catfish fillets and fried shrimp are standout dishes, fried to a perfect crisp and expertly seasoned to delight your taste buds. Each meal is served with homemade pinto beans, fries, and hush puppies, all adding a distinct touch to the overall dining experience. The homemade pinto beans are particularly noteworthy, offering a rich flavor and comforting texture that rivals the best family recipes. The hush puppies are equally impressive, featuring a crispy exterior with a soft and flavorful center. Although my husband once had a slightly burnt batch, a subsequent visit proved their quality, demonstrating Springhill's commitment to consistency. In addition to the main offerings, the restaurant showcases a refreshing slaw that beautifully balances the hearty flavors of the meal. It's worth noting that during busy hours, the staff might seem a bit overwhelmed with take-out orders, but their cheerful demeanor helps maintain a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance at Springhill is inviting and nostalgic, with antique decor that creates a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. The establishment is also commendably clean, providing a welcoming environment for diners. Overall, Springhill Restaurant delivers a memorable dining experience with its delicious Southern cuisine and charming atmosphere. Despite minor hiccups, it's a top choice for anyone craving authentic Southern hospitality since it opened in '85. Plus, you definitely get plenty of food!

If you are looking for fried comfort food, this is your place. The moment you step inside, you are greeted by relics from the past and good ol' southern hospitality. We went for dinner and it hit the spot for us. Hushpuppies, garden salad, chicken fried steak, baked potato and peach cobbler ala mode and the portion size is large enough that we shared all of this between two people. It's local and home style food. Give it a try!
