It's been a while since my last visit. As much as I have loved being a patron over the last 27 years or so, The Only is a very unpredictable place. It all depends on who is working that day...and more importantly who is cooking. Sometimes the staff is warm and friendly, other times they are cold and abrupt. Great selection of beers, especially in the bottle. With the right cook the food can be excellent. Otherwise it... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Only Cafe:
The serving staff at The Only is absolutely horrible. Condescending, arrogant and rude. I get the feeling some of the people that work there are upset they might have squandered their potential in life and are now angry and frustrated with the university student patrons that have a bright future. This restaurant was a hidden gem. After a great holiday weekend, we arrived in downtown Peterborough searching for a place to grab a bite to eat.
The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and offers a good variety of beers, making it a great place to spend time at if you can overlook the impolite waitstaff. They seem to give you dirty looks as if you have just ruined their day.
This restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy a few drinks and socialize with some fascinating people. It's definitely the hipster hotspot in Peterborough, and is well-known...
You can't afford to miss this cafe when you visit Peterborough. The British Breakfast and the Cowboy Breakfast are good. The potatoes are meticulously fried. Not oily. Not overdone. Well balanced between soft and solid. Prime eggs are used and rich in taste. The coffee is rich in flavour. The attendant is friendly and diligent. Very impressive that the attendant is sensitive to first time customers. The washroom is also clean. The cafe is unique in the way that the chef dresses formally with a long sleeved white shirt and a tie and that the photos of different singers bands of different ages are posted. The former makes you believe that the chef respects his mission. The latter may prompt you to recall different memories. These factors add a special layer to the dining experience.
Food was good, zero customer service until I asked for the bill, which is when the person was nice. Walked in, no acknowledgement. Asked for coffee and water, had to wait for them to make it and then to carry 4 cups myself to my table
