I recommend it! I was there last Saturday. Food, presentation, nice staff and privacy are amazing. I'm going back. The prices for each meal were not so expensive. We spent about $50 because we ordered many dishes. They did not take too long to make the food, and there are so many beautiful backgrounds for taking pictures . View all feedback.
What Paul Ford doesn't like about Matsu Sushi (east City):
Not a good experience. Went for lunch with my son. The sushi salmon which should be cold was at room temperature. The rice was dried out and not moist like it should be. The avocado was browned like it sat out. Certainly not cut fresh. Sushi pizza was a fail. No care or attention like it use to be years ago. Won’t be back. View all feedback.
I recently visited Peterborough from Oshawa and stumbled upon this gem offering Korean cuisine. My fiancé and I ordered the XOXO Boat and Boodaejjigae. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, the sushi had the perfect rice-to-filling ratio, and the maki featured delightful options like spicy salmon and rainbow roll. While it would have been even more fantastic with a variety of fish on the boat, I can't complain too much because everything was still very enjoyable. The Boodaejjigae was packed with kimchi, ham, sausages, noodles, and cheese. The service was outstanding. Despite sitting in a booth, we were pleasantly surprised that they checked on us frequently and were eager to assist with anything we needed. Exceptional service!I will definitely be returning for another visit.
Not bad at all. I enjoyed Seafood Nabe nice broth,We ordered the xoxo boat. The sushi and sashimi was average but the presentation was
Birthday meal with five adults. Reservations accepted. Seated in private booth which was very nice. More than enough room to seat five comfortably.Servers were attentive and friendly however oddly the dishes we ordered arrived staggered. The first plate arrived several minutes before the next two and then the final two several minutes after. By the time we all had our meals the first meal (a hot plate) had cooled significantly. As a family it is customary to wait to eat until all meals have arrived. My spicey pork with sticky rice and miso was delicious perhaps a bit too spicey for some. Sticky rice seemed a bit bland and was cold by the time all the meals arrived. Husband had Seafood Soba which he enjoyed though he did say some of the seafood was very off putting. Otherwise noodles and veg were good. Son had the Red Dragon, his favourite, he loves the tuna. Daughter-in-law had the Veg Soba which she enjoyed, alone with the miso which she said is the best she has had. Granddaughter had the Salmon Donburi which she enjoys particularly the salmon. It is a very large portion so she did bring some home. That atmosphere is wonderful here. There is some parking around back. Prices are a bit high but as expected with the cost of living and post-covid.
While there are plethora of Sushi/Japanese Foods in Peterborough and surrounding area, I think this place is one of the only restaurant that still 'serves ' Korean cuisinethat many and many more people now craving so badly in Peterborough, Lindsay and surrounding area. Only if this place can add more variety of Korean dishes instead of just the typical Sushi combination that everyone can get in every street corner in the city.
