From our request for a cosy booth beside the fire, to a warm welcome, great service and yummy food. Another visit to The Terrace delivered on every level. Definitely worth the drive from where we live. A big thank you to all on duty on Saturday. View all feedback.
What Jaquelin Pouros doesn't like about The Terrace Hotel:
We went there for Sunday lunch and we were very surprised with its old and classic hotel looking. The lunch menu was quite reasonable with price choices. We ordered fish & chips, burgers and pasta which were very yummy. The meat pattie for my burger was very thick and tasty, the bacon was thick and tender unlike the normal burger, the bun was really nice. The dessert plater was full of flavour, especially the creamy... View all feedback.
Overpriced for the food you are getting. I ordered a Chicken Kiev which was just a boiled chicken leg with a spoon-fool of veggies (2 baby carrots, 3 mushrooms, 5 cranberries and 4 potato cubes!) - paid $36 for it. The only good thing was the sauce, but certainly not worth the price. All the portions were very small, the food was lukewarm. We had an extra person with the group and he was told that he might wait a long time for his meal! Not very welcoming! Got an outdoors table for our group and the outdoors heating wasn't working. The outdoors temperature was 16 degrees, so it wasn't pleasant. All in all, a disappointing experience.
Had a lovely stay, bed was comfortable, bath was huge with an abundance of hot water.Dinner was lovely, service was quick and friendly. We had the vegetable tart to start, the lamb shank for mains and the selection of desert. Breakfast was the big breakfast as the Eggs Benedict. Eggs were slightly over cooked and only a little bit runny but otherwise good. Coffee was Vittoria, not my go to but was tasty and nicely presented. BRN:72442414
I organized a Kitchen High Tea for my daughter's wedding at the beautiful Terrace Hotel. I can't speak highly enough of the staff, they really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. We had 21 guests and several with dietary requirements but this was no problem. The food was delicious and the tiered stands beautifully presented. We were seated on the front terrace and it was the perfect location. All the guests had a wonderful time and my daughter had a perfect day. Our wonderful waitress Rose helped with balloons and putting up signs, she was such a gem. I would definitely recommend The Terrace Hotel for your high tea functions.
We were put into the Red room with no ambience – especially for a Christmas in July. There were cheap and nasty crackers on the table and spare tables left in the corner felt like we were in the storage cupboardNo decorations not even a xmas tree.Scallop entrée were 3 extremely small scallops- duck was OK, and so was the soup.Service was poor as we were stuck in a room with the door closed that we had to keep opening as it was too hot and to remind them that we were there and required service. The response re this from the manager was that they had upgraded us to this private room otherwise they were going to leave us out on the front terrace in rain?? At no time in booing process were we advised that we were being put outside for a winter dinner reservation.Food was extremely poor I did not even getting my requested meal. There was an option of fish on the menu 2 of us wanted fish. We were told that they had 2 salmon left before they could cook the Barramundi.I wanted Salmon my friend wanted Barramundi we were told that she could not have the Barramundi as the Salmon had not been sold . She changed her mind to Pork. When the meal arrived they served me Barramundi and my friend her Pork. I advised the waitress that it was not Salmon but she assured me it was - I then tasted it and it certainly was not Salmon but Barramundi. I gave it to my friend and asked the waitress to bring my Salmon. Sometime later after everyone had started their meals I got mine – should not have bothered as it was obviously a rushed cook as the thickest part of the fish was raw and could not be eaten at all. Manager stated that the fish was medium rare (he did not see it) The other meals and meat were overcooked dry, and hardly warm.Dessert brownie was also dry.For the privilege of $79.00 per head plus alcohol $1000 for 8 people we did not even get complimentary tea and or coffee. The response from the Restaurant Manager statesI’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience on Saturday. As we attempt to do with all of our bookings, we strive to give the best experience possible which is why we upgraded you free of charge into a private dining room for your booking. Our only other choice on the evening was to put your booking on the front terrace which would not have been ideal for your group with the weather on the night. Our Scallops are a premium product, and as I’m sure you can appreciate, we are at the mercy of what nature provides as far as size is concerned. However as they are very rich, we let our serving sizes reflect this depth and intensity of flavour.I apologies that you did not receive your requested meal in the first instance. This was definitely an oversight on our part and the issue has been addressed with the appropriate staff. The Salmon that you did receive was cooked to medium rare to medium as all of our Salmon servings are in order to retain the moisture of the fish.I’m sorry if you believe that the meat (Pork and Turkey) in the other meals was dry. Gravy was not an inclusion on the Turkey as it was served with a Champagne veloute and cranberry coulis while the Pork was served with brandy gravy also as stated on the menu.I hope this answers many of your concerns regarding the evening and if you have any further queries, please feel free to get back to me.Needled to say response was appalling and we will not be back
Maybe it is not always wise to judge an establishment when the first visit is for a special occasion - in this case Christmas in July - but it has to be wondered if the standard experienced at this function is the normal standard. The staff were great, very attentive and polite, the venue itself was beautiful - but the food was what let the evening down. Whilst it was beautifully presented, it was, at best, tepid - to the point where it was really a toss up between eating it and sending it back. The entree scallops were over cooked and yet hardly warm, the turkey was very moist but almost cold, the salmon was beautifully cooked but, again, virtually cold. All in all this is not somewhere I will be returning to in the near future.
