Better than getting a sandwich at Subway. Their baguettes have flavour and are fresh. Not bad for a quick lunch in the city. The staff are eager to serve and are friendly.

Nice little shop just at Hay Street offering a fusion of Vietnamese with Korean cuisine. The owner/staff there is very friendly, offering high quality and informative recommendation too. Smashup has 3 main dishes: banh mi, noodle, and toasties. I tried the banh mi which was great. They came in 2 sizes, I chose the bigger one at $9.50. You can choose up to 2 meats (which I thought was cool) from an extensive options including bbq pork, roast pork, spicy chicken, beef bulgogi, tofu, prawn and mang more. I chose the spicy chicken and roast pork. The owner was thoughtful that he even went to the extend of putting the roast pork on the side closer to the opening of the bag so you would eat the roast pork first before the spicy chicken. That way, the spiciness would not dilute the flavour. I really appreciate this little but meaningful gesture. The meat was soft, well marinated and blend nicely woth the garnishes to form an overall great and tasty banh mi. My only recommendation would be to request for more sauce as I find some part was rather dry and could have been better with more sauce/garnishes.

Absolutely love this place. Admittedly I've only ever gotten the BMTs though but I can't move past them. Considering I'm quite a glutton, it's suprising that the small size at $6.50 (which is more of a medium than a small but I guess it's smaller than the giant ones at $10! fills me up. The owners are Korean and Vietnamese which is a combo of my own background so I can tell you the flavours are somehow authentic but fused really well without losing the punch of the legit touches that can only come from two foodies firmly respectful of their own cultures! <br/ <br/ My fave is the spicy pork but the crispy pork belly, spicy chicken everything here is good! The BMT are basically your authentic bánh mì thịt roll except for the bread which is less of the French Việt style and less crumbly which is fine with me! It has all the authentic touches with traditional vegies and paté, with the Korean coming in the form of the meat and the marinades. It's delicious and fresh, and I like that the meat is quite generous compared to the few slices you'd get from a traditional Việt roll as that's usually more than enough pork flavour. <br/ <br/ The service here is always very welcoming, polite and friendly more in the Korean style which makes me sometimes awkward as I'm used to blunt Perth service! Haha this is a great little spot for great value. A must try! And I'll have to try their rice or salad bowls next.
