What Marguerite Barbier likes about Is Donburi:
I love coming to Is Donburi (both the one in Newcastle or the one in William)! Polite staffs ready to serve you with some of the freshest salmon sushi out there My routine would be the salmon don. At $16.80 you got one big bowl of teriyaki samon on top of bed of rice and salad. Yes, I probably could survive with less salad and more salmon and rice haha. Tried the salmon sashimi as well because it is just too good!!!... View all feedback. What Ahmad Auer doesn't like about Is Donburi:
I always patronize the original branch along Williams St. But decided to try out the Newcastle branch. The decor is very modern, with big high ceiling and has an open kitchen. Slightly bigger than the original branch. But, Service was not as good as the Original branch where the service personnel are more pleasant and friendlier. What we experienced at this branch in Newcastle, during dinner, we asked for more wasabi... View all feedback.

read moreIs Donburi in Newcastle offers a modern ambiance with a big high ceiling and an open kitchen, slightly larger than the original branch along Williams St. However, the service here is not as friendly as in the original branch. Some patrons found the ramen to be lackluster, with overpowering ginger flavors ruining the dishes, leading to disappointment. The menu has transitioned to focus solely on curry dishes, with varying levels of spiciness available. Despite some mixed experiences, the quality of the sushi and sashimi at Is Donburi is praised, with fresh and well-prepared dishes at reasonable prices. Fans of Japanese food appreciate the authenticity and variety, including favorites like the spicy spider roll and sashimi chirashi. The takeaway sushi is highlighted for its freshness and delicious flavor combinations, making Is Donburi a good choice for those craving high-quality Japanese cuisine.
