An article for an online magazine would read something like this: "Discover a hidden gem in the heart of Perth at the Downstairs Bar, located across from the Perth Library. With a lush and cozy ambiance, this bar offers a massive selection of whiskies and a good variety of cocktails. While some guests found the toasties to be a letdown, the overall experience is elevated by friendly and attentive staff. Enjoy the retro-Victorian décor and comfy seating areas while sipping on a cocktail or tasting rack of Whisky. With a touch of elegance and charm, this groovy bar is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. Whether you're looking for a quick drink or a more sophisticated cocktail experience, Halford Bar is sure to impress with their impeccable service and impressive selection of spirits. Don't miss out on trying their signature Long Island iced teas and other craft cocktails, or simply relax and enjoy the classy atmosphere and attention to detail at the bar.".

The halford bar is a stylish facility in the cellar of the state building, on the corner of the hay street and the cathedrale avenue, the place of the safe space of the old office. below the stairs you will find the bar area, with a striking marble bar, then through an arc to a few seats, or below more stairs to another intimate space.

I would not recommend this place at all! extremely rude, especially the bar manager. very involuntary I have brought 20 people to celebrate my man birthday. 4 of us were told that we could not sit in the room, although it was not booked. my friend was told three times that he was supposed to leave the ground, although he didn't do anything wrong, except the question why we couldn't sit there. very bad vibes of the time we went. I guess he didn't like our age class or anything. none of us will ever go back is not recommended to this place to everyone. very dissapointed dampened our night despite spending a lot of money there, what business to what seemed a nice...read more

What a cozy and yet funky hidden secret. Not the average drinking hole but a classy cocktail and spirit joint. Everything takes time and watching them at the bar proves the attention they show to your perfect cocktail. No Long Island Iced Tea here... whiskey sours and negroni. Classy!!! Sit at the bar or service in the lounge... the staff really make the effort. Do yourself a favour... treat yourself to a cheeky few when the other joints shut.

Top 3 CBD bar for me. Cosy, moody, chic, welcoming, personal. Superb service. Even love the bathrooms! Fantastic cocktail offerings;  creative, pretty and many options. The Halford and The Reverse martinis were highly rated. My Pear Lady was quite weak however The Velvet Underground was tasty but ended too quickly. Creative and amazing smelling food options. I will be back soon.

Not quite sure it is everything it was cracked up to be.........<br/ <br/ Lets open with the good stuff.<br/ <br/ The cocktail list is extensive, and I must say, compared to other venues around Perth, all sampled, especially the Reverse Martini and the Halford, were both extremely enjoyable.<br/ <br/ The wine list is solid, if not exciting or diverse for a place where I would expect a slightly broader and more sophisticated range to match their other offerings.<br/ <br/ The decor and ambiance is....well...I am honestly not sure. It is part cosy nook laneway bar, part boudoir, part 70s electric disco. Can't say I was a massive fan.<br/ <br/ That being said, for a place that is a bit different where you could return on many occasions and still be delighted by good cocktails I would recommend it.<br/ <br/ The rest provides a talking point at least.......
