It was the best breakfast I had eaten for years. (I ordered the Barnyard Platter, as recommended by another male sitting next to the table. It's a small place with not so much seating, but it didn't feel like it was too crowded. Service was great. Coffee was constantly refilled. Stops in Lou's during a long trip, based on great reviews. Armed minutes before their 2 pm closing time, but became with open arms to ask if it was cool until the counter still too pony. This place is exactly what I love: hole in the wall (actually missed it driving through...outside is not welcoming and shield is tiny with fantastic service, great people and wonderful food. There were four of us. Two had pancakes, two had BLTs. The pancakes are tipped off the sky! They are infused with fresh blueberries and chocolate chips, and you can observe how they are made before you. My buddy got the stack of three that gigantic, heavy and requires special techniques even try (see picture). I just got one out, but it was the best I ever had. The bacon served with my two side eggs was thick and perfectly crisp. The women noticed that their BLTs were equally impressive (and, from bites we shared from pancakes, they saw a monthly 2.5-hour trip from home to enjoy them again. On all food sovereignty, people were a joy. Chatting, ribbing each other (probably syrup techniques for The Stack are excessive for my individual pancakes... who knew? and the local color of the city or Perry, IA. Go! Unfortunately, this is not a fast branch I-80 as you zoom through Iowan corn fields (maybe 20 minutes? , but it is worth looking at a detour just to support and enjoy this rare jewel.
