I'm so upset that it took me so long to go to this restaurant. I stopped on a day and I got caught. It is located on a Mexican restaurant, but has a sufficient parking space in front of and behind the restaurant. I have a Hibachi menu of chicken and steak with roasted rice, vegetables, soup and salad. The food was quickly available and smells delicious. The food tasted amazing. The steak was tender and the chicken ta... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse Sushi:
Food was alright, just average. Nothing fantastic. The “chef” was very unentertaining which is half the reason you go to hibachi, to be entertained. The service was terrible. Our waitress was nonexistent, no drink refills, no dish removal, just not engaged. This place charges real hibachi prices for a less than stellar experience. It’s definitely not worth it. I want to express my gratitude to Chong for the wonderful care he provided to me and my son during our lunch. The food was excellent, and my favorite part was the beautiful Koi pond.
They take reservations, but even if you arrive 10 minutes early, they'll give your table away. The service staff was both slow and rude. The only highlight of the experience was our chef, Anthony, who truly saved this review from being a one-star rating.
Our chef Anthony was truly phenomenal! He really went the extra mile for us. The last time we visited, we had a different chef who, unfortunately, gave me food poisoning. I can't remember his name, but he placed everything on the grill at once, which was not great! However, Anthony changed my perspective completely! He is not only the best hibachi chef I've ever had, but he's also quite impressive for a white guy! Whenever you go there, make sure to request Anthony—you won't be disappointed!
Party of 7 nice atmosphere and the hibachi table was great. Peter was our food preparer and he is a hoot. He really knows his stuff and keeps you laughing. First time there, so glad we went.
Edited Post: This last trip was disastrous. We had eight people in our party. Everyone ordered from the menu with minimal adjustments. The food took FOREVER to come out. Then it came in stages. Four people received their food; but, one of the orders was only part of his order. About 10 minutes later two more dishes arrived along with the missing food from the first delivery. another 10 minute wait, and another delivery. Finally, after another 15 minutes, the last order arrived. They tried to deliver a plate of food to me that was the wrong order. I had ordered a chicken and shrimp dish. The one they tried to deliver was only shrimp. Instead of delivering the chicken on a separate plate, they took it back, let it set for more than 10 minutes, then delivered it with hot chicken, cold shrimp and cold rice. Food delivery aside, the service was deplorable. Our waitress took our order and then disappeared. We had to constantly seek out ANYONE to refill tea, sodas, and water. The staff offered ZERO communication as to what the problems were. Then they had the temerity to add a 18% gratuity to the bill. Seriously, this is the part that set me off the most. Apologies are useless when you bill someone for a service you DID NOT preform! My family and I will think long and hard about ever returning to this establishment. Original Post: Was 5 Stars I've been to many Japanese style restaurants across this great nation. This restaurant, located in a nondescript building, is one of the best. I found the staff to be welcoming and accommodated the special requests (food allergies amongst two of our party) with no complaints. The food was outstanding. I wish I would have thought to take some pictures. But the food smelled so good, I started eating before I gave it much thought! Without a doubt, this is our favorite Asian style restaurant in the area. We will return.
