What lickmylips dislikes about Crown:
Found this on TripAdvisor and saw it had good ratings for its food, so thought we'd give it a try while visiting Colne. I ordered the homemade minced meat pie and veg. Found it really bland to be honest. All the veg was just plainly boiled and had no flavour. They were decent-sized portions but I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The food seemed of the quality you'd get in an everyday cafe tbh.On the plus, the staff... View all feedback.

Three of us have been coming to the splendidly located Crown Hotel in Colne for over twenty years. It is a couple of minutes walk from the Preston to Colne local service, and there is a bus stop literally outside the front door. The hotel has been the premier place to stay in Colne since the railway brought tourists to Colne in the days of Queen Victoria. Our booking was made last year -2023, we heard that it had changed hands since we were last there in 2023. During the times we had been going the daily bed and breakfast rate remained remarkably little changed. We were welcomed by Vicky and we were told that the daily rate had changed. Two of our group could be accommodated in en suite rooms. Head Chef Steve was excellent, his full English breakfasts set you up for the day. He is a man with local knowledge which came in useful when our departure trains to Preston were cancelled. We understand that the Crown has been taken over by a brewery chain. The location is exceptional and the stone building with limited parking at the side only needs someone of vision to appreciate the hotel’s potential and restore the hotel to the community hub it has been in the recent past. Roast dinners are available as well as pub fare. We do hope to be able to return to The Crown in the not too distant future. As they do say on the website it is useful to ring ahead to determine what it the art of the possible.

Great pub/hotel right at the bottom of colne high Street. We didn't pay much so expected not much but a great time was had. Very clean basic rooms, adequate breakfast at nothing really to complain about. It is what it is. Do yourself a favor and have a cheap night away, it's cold dark and miserable so a quick visit to somewhere like this will put a smile back on your face. Many thanks to everyone, keep up the good work

Terrible service Was going for Sunday lunch but after watching other people getting served didn’t bother! Party of 6 served staggered over 15 minutes and then the last person was served a jet black burnt chicken burger Roast dinner looked tiny and cold

Booked in for Sunday roast. Staff welcoming and friendly. Well stocked bar. Menu is varied and reasonably priced. We order the roast and it was beef or pork or you could have both meats! Portion size was good as was presentation. We were blown away by how good it was, meat cooked to perfection and couldn't fault any of it. The food is very much improved from when we last dined here as its now under new management. This place will become a regular go to place and we offer our support to the staff and their hard work getting the place back on its feet! See you soon. From Angie and Steve

Having been taken over a short while ago we called in for Sunday Lunch. The service was first class. The Sunday Lunch was the best I have had, absolutely top drawer ourselves and another table couldn’t finish the whole dish. The beef was cooked to perfection and sliced nice and thick. We will be making this a regular and have no hesitation recommending it. Like anything else, support local businesses 150 out of 100

The Crown Hotel in Colne offers a historical atmosphere and excellent service. With new ownership, the food has remained consistently good. The restaurant provides a cozy, welcoming ambiance perfect for a night out. Specials like gammon night offer generous portions and friendly staff. While some customers have experienced issues with temperature and taste consistency, the overall consensus remains positive. The Crown Hotel is a convenient and affordable option for both locals and visitors alike.

We have been dining at this restaurant for years. We bid a fond farewell to the previous owners. Upon returning, we found that the food was excellent under the new ownership. Well done, guys!

Visited the restaurant today (September) with my family. We only booked a table this afternoon for tea time. Upon arrival, we waited in the corridor until someone greeted us. We were seated quickly and our drinks order was taken immediately. The food was good value, especially the lasagne which had generous portions. The kids' meal was also reasonably priced. The lemon and orange pudding was delicious with a light sponge. We will definitely be returning for the great food. The only downside was the lack of communication among the young female waitresses, as they each asked us multiple times if we had ordered, wanted dessert, or if everything was okay.

It was wonderful to see the Crown restaurant open and I visited last evening. The food and drinks were excellent. All the tables were well spaced out, making me feel very safe. The staff wore face masks and were welcoming, friendly, and very professional. The food was delicious, hot, and tasty. It was a lovely treat to have a meal cooked for me without having to do any washing up. It's great to be able to eat out again, and I will definitely be back soon. Thank you to the entire staff for a great experience.

Went for tea Sunday June Good selection of beer Reasonable menu selection however what I ate was average at best sure the roast potatoes were frozen as they were all exactly the same shape and size ! Either that or the sous chef has...OCD !! Bland veg needed seasoning Pudding was good though sticky toffee with custard always a favourite

Food for the price you just cannot fault it's amazing, there was a lovely young man that's the nicest thing I can say when it comes to staff tbh, we called and booked at table for we arrived at I have never felt...so unwanted or been spoken to in such a rude manner in my years if it wasn't for my partner suffering with severe anxiety I would have got up and left she completely wrecked our experience and God knows how long it will take for my partner to pluck up the courage to go out in this pandemic again after that being one of her first experiences, just to give a couple of pointers we walked in smiled and politely tried to say we had a table booked the girl interrupted in a rude manner last orders were wait here (I wanted to go then! She comes back stuck up attitude yes the kitchen said they will serve you but you have seconds to order and that she gave us she come back demanding our orders exactly a minute later her whole persona was dreadful tbh huffing puffing making it known SHE/THEY (it's your job pal) was doing us a favour, I just wanted to leave after that ,a bit later she tried to be nice my partner because she is a nervous wreck played along I struggled to look at the girl TBH, lesson for the crown don't book tables if you stop serving food at common sense! If you do advise guest (because we are guests) to arrive mins early as the kitchen shuts at or lf someone does arrive at as advised by Covid don't arrive until your exact time due to social distancing then maybe try to be polite imagine the experience if the girl let me finish my sentence said In a nice manner ladies I'll just have to check I know the kitchen shuts at sorry I know this is when you booked, then came back to us and said yeh the kitchen said that's cool would you mind if I asked you to choose what you needed asap then came back with a smile on here face. This pandemic is new to us all and rules are ever changing, there is no need for power trips or arragonce, finally a young chap took over our table towards the end and he was just lovely maybe he should be coaching your staff on basic customer service, basically the food and value is that good if I had his service from the start we would have been regulars we live round the corner I will never enter again tbh disgusted.
