Our server was very evidently inexperienced, but that’s pretty par for the course these days. She forgot a few of our drinks, didn’t know anything about the draft options and our drinks all took quite awhile. They were definitely understaffed. The wait was about an...hour, but we were able to phone in for a spot on the waitlist for dinner. Food was great- one couple from our party had the mussels earlier in the weekend and had them again tonight. Ginger beef was fantastic the burgers were impressive. Would go back with hopes of better service, based solely on the great food. Wouldn’t hesitate to get takeout- they had a separate takeout/pickup window.
When researching where to go for our trip, The Pony was one of the reasons I picked Pemberton because of their website. It gives the impression that it's nearly farm to table with high end execution on traditional dishes. It's not, not by a long...shot. The splash page reads, The Pony Restaurant provides guests with a fine dining experience presented in typical rustic Pemberton fashion I call BS. The fish and chips I had were disgusting, but after sampling my date's food which was equally unimpressive Sysco slop, I figured exchanging it wouldn't make a difference. The coleslaw was just a pile of watery mayo, the filet was paper thin, the batter was soft and oozing oil, and the tarter was not even tarter. I felt like I'd choked down a paper towel I'd just used to mop up a grease spill. Look, I get pub food is pub food and it has its place but don't have a website that makes you look like The Boathouse when you're serving food equivalent to a bar night at the Legion. This is a place to order shots and a burger, not whatever it's selling itself as online. Staff was on point though, only reason they didn't get a
I’m just done. We tried them again after a few years and I left them the same review. They realllllllllly need to work on their “gravy”. It tastes like liquid smoke. The food is mediocre and to be honest, we would rather McDonald’s which really...is the only other option. My husband got their “Donair” and he literally eats EVERYTHING and he said it was sludge. With very limited options in Pemby the pony needs to step it up...ugh.
