He started in van parked at the mini market's lot and has now graduated to a shop in which he and his wife offer take outs of more than pizza... but pizza is his mainstay. For Paulhan to have 3 good pizza shops is special but for true pizza lovers Philip's is the best, maybe due to the competition. In my home town of New Haven Connecticut two Wooster Street pizza places competed with Sally's being triumphant not just because Sinatra used to eat there but because Flo continued her husband's pizza making skill after he died. And in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood there are two pizza places that have pushed each other for years with Aeillo's winning out but since the proprietor's recent passing, the jury's out on his son's skill to continue; Mineo's might just prevail. Well, it may seem like a distraction but Philip's is in the same league with two of America's best pizza shops and, if you're in Paulhan you should taste for yourself.
