I already wanted to come here one because I am so glad that I tried it! They have a kiosk and cash for ordering food, so it is a quick process that is great. the people they work are so friendly and attentive. the manager or owner pulled my engaged and I aside to help us, order and give us recommendations. he made sure that we added something special to our drinks so that they were perfect. the Mexican chocolate coffee was stronger than we had expected, so we were happy that they saw something plucked to sweeten them. they can say they use quality cacao. we tried the Cuban sandwich and steak sandwich and they were wonderful! so tasteful and well made! we were too full to order the churros and chocolate, so we will definitely go back to try this! they look great. I also want to come back and try out the empanadas. I recommend stopping a nice lunch with some great coffee and lunch options! they have internal and external kitchen. my father is South American and my family are wonderful chefs so I really appreciate to find a place that makes quality Latin cuisine.
I took my fiancé here for a birthday brunch. We both LOVED IT! There were so many items to choose from, it was hard to pick one. We enjoyed their variety of hot chocolates. It's such a cute little spot with incredible food. It was our first time visiting, but we'll definitely be back. Each bite is so savory that you want to take your time eating.
This Venezuelan/Spanish cafe offers arepas, coffees, and churros with chocolate. I visited with a group of five after hiking at Eaton Canyon on a Sunday around 11:30am. We parked at the schoolhouse garage next to the cafe for $1 for the first 2 hours. They accept credit cards. You order and pay at the counter before finding a table to sit at. There is both indoor and outdoor dining options available, as well as a restroom inside. There is also a water dispenser by the restroom. The arepa was delicious and can be split between two people for a light lunch, with the choice of coleslaw or salad. They also offer sandwiches, with the panini bread having a nice texture. We ordered 12 churros with chocolate to share among the 6 of us, but we were too full from our meal to have more than one each.
Amara is a charming café in the heart of old town Pasadena that serves Venezuelan-inspired cuisine. The ambiance of the café matches its menu perfectly, offering a wide variety of tasty drinks and food. While the café can get busy and crowded at times, it is still a recommended spot to visit. The churros, while good, are not the same as traditional ones found in Madrid or other places in LA. The sipping chocolate is dark and thick, but not as thick as what you would find in Madrid. Overall, Amara offers a unique dining experience with excellent food and drinks that are worth trying with the right expectations.
I’ve been going to this place for many years and Amara continues to serve delicious crispy churros, savory empanadas and addictive hot drinks. Their menu has expanded and their hours extended to feed the locals and their neighbors. Kudos to the restaurant’s namesake owner!
