I’ve been visiting this restaurant for 20 years. In the past, I would have called it the best, but now that I’ve experienced finer dining, I find it hard to say it’s my favorite. That being said, the food is still great for a casual outing with a few beers. I especially love the tacos! The service is friendly and welcoming, making it feel like home. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. I like to go there when I don’t feel like cooking, or when I’m visiting Arcadia.
I visited this restaurant for Taco Tuesday and had a great experience! Soft tacos are just $1.50 each, while hard shell tacos are $2.50. They offer a generous amount of protein in each taco. The atmosphere is fantastic, making it a great place to hang out. There's a parking lot in the back with about 15-20 spots, but be ready to park on the street during busy times!
On August 29, 2022, my family and I visited Cabreras in Pasadena after our dad's rosary. We were in a period of mourning and were hoping to enjoy a nice drink and a good meal. There were ten of us in total, and only my niece spoke Spanish while the rest of us did not. When my niece ordered her food in Spanish, the waitress told her that since she was the only one who spoke Spanish, she would receive a discount. Unfortunately, we didn't understand the conversation, but my niece explained it to us after the waitress left. As a Mexican American who never learned to speak Spanish in my family, I felt discriminated against in that moment. It felt very racial and created an uncomfortable atmosphere for us. I just wanted our food, which ended up not being good, so we could leave. I believe that staff members should not make comments like that to customers. After this experience, neither I nor my family will return. It’s disappointing to see such behavior from a waitress, especially since Pasadena is my hometown, where I was born and raised. We will not dine there again.
We decided to try the Chicken Fajitas and Chicken Burrito. The Fajitas arrived sizzling on a hot plate, accompanied by vegetables and sides of beans, rice, sour cream, and guacamole. You can see it in my photos! When Marcela served the dish, I was taken aback by its size and steaminess. The flavors were as impressive as the presentation. The Chicken Burrito was cheesy and bursting with flavor; my girlfriend couldn't finish hers and had to take half home. Marcela recommended we try the Flan, and we agreed. My girlfriend declared it the best flan she has ever tasted. It had a cheesecake-like consistency, topped with an incredible orange sauce. Be sure to look at my photos of the dessert! Marcela also mentioned that they offer a large flan (cake-sized) for parties and special occasions, which is quite popular. Overall, Cabrera’s is absolutely delicious! You will love it!
