Shakou is a solid sushi restaurant with plenty of seating. Perfect for large parties. The service is a bit slow, but not unbearably long. I love the Dragon Fire and Black Widow sushi rolls. The bottom side of the rice of the Dragon Fire is pan fried to crunchy crisp. The Black Widow has a large piece of scallop on top. Both rolls were very unique and tasty! I would definitely order this roll again. Service: Dine in M... View all feedback.
What Grayson Stracke doesn't like about Shakou Park Ridge:
Overall disappointment with my dining experience. My wife ordered a Cosmopolitan and received a Dirty Martini. We tried 3 different sushi rolls only to discover very little flavor based on the description of the rolls in the menu. The waitress did return the drink to the bar and brought back a correct one. Additionally, she took extremely long to come to the table and check on the food after it was delivered. Drinks... View all feedback.
I love this place. Large, with stands, tables or simple chairs, along with counter service. Good food, good service, gluten-free menu and new supplements all the time. A bit loud on the weekend, with loud music, but fun.
Always a deliciously sexy fun time...... only the stand in which we were, seemed broken as if we were balancing on a wooden screed.
While the quality of food went a little from previous visits, it was still ok. All 4 in our party thought vegetables quite raw, very hard with the salmon terryaki (2 and Chilean lake bass we ordered. The huge pieces made them difficult and laborious to eat. We are tired of getting the attention of our server to ask the knives to cut them and also to request water. Our rating is almost exclusively based on the service. Hosts were nice and friendly in our seats. But the server seemed very clean, cold and unfriendly when we ordered everything. One example was when she came back to mention a wine that a guest was ordered not available, she immediately wanted to know what other wine would be ordered. The server was visibly irritated when this guest searched the wine list again for a second choice. That was typical of the whole experience. It certainly did not deserve the top that the Bill Payer provided (still 15), although it was much less generous than it normally offers.
Hubby and I enjoy the sushi rolls here. They are always tasty and fresh and presentation is excellent. Shared yaki udon noodle dish also. It was also very good. Service was good this time. Sometimes it can be slow. It is more expensive than Blufish down the road, but I do prefer the sushi here.

Additionally, she took extremely long to come to the table and check on the food after it was delivered. Drinks went dry and the worst part was that we were still changed $13 for the drink debacle. The restaurant was fairly busy so that is probably why the drink was messed up and the rolls lacked quality. One last note, the restaurant was extremely loud with what I can only describe as rave music. Not sure if the two (sushi and dance music) should be paired together.
