There’s a reason people queue outside Mamiche—and no, it’s not just for the aesthetics. It’s for the real deal viennoiseries that taste like they were made with love (and a sinful amount of butter . I tried the croissant, roulé jambon-fromage, brioche au sucre, and babka—and each one delivered its own little moment of joy. • The croissant? Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and layered inside. A Paris classic done right. • The roulé jambon-fromage was gooey, savory, and satisfying—basically the French answer to your hangry prayers. • The brioche was so pillowy it could double as a mattress (but why would you sleep on it when you could eat it? . • And the babka—rich, indulgent, and not overly sweet. The kind you hide from your travel buddy and pretend you didn’t buy. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: €1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The TikTok hype may not be worth it. Babka was good, but that’s because it was loathed in chocolate. Other goods were mediocre at best. Many better bakeries in Paris. Try la maison d’isabelle instead for croissants for example
Famous for their croissants and babka, this bakery is on almost everyone’s must-visit list in Paris. I tried the plain croissant, the almond croissant, and the chocolate babka. The plain croissant was fresh, soft, and airy, really tasty; but it wasn’t as flaky as I would have liked. It’s one of the better ones I’ve had in Paris, maybe even in my top five, but not the very best. The almond croissant, on the other hand, was outstanding. Full of flavor with a rich almond taste, it really impressed me. As for the babka, it was good, but the dark chocolate was a bit too strong for my taste, and I didn’t feel like finishing the whole piece. Mamiche offers a huge variety of baked goods, including some really tempting sandwiches. I’m already looking forward to going back to try more!
