The Emerald Thai - Papakura
The Emerald Thai
Description
Hidden in Papakura, this long-standing Thai spot serves generous, vegetable-rich dishes and standout items like corn fritters, garee puffs and pad grapraw. Many diners praise friendly, attentive service, vegetarian choices, affordable prices and ample free parking, though decor feels dated. Experiences vary: some guests report slow takeout, order errors and — in isolated but serious cases — poor hygiene and spoiled ingredients. Overall it’s a largely loved local with inconsistent quality; confirm orders and inspect takeout before leaving.

Absolute hidden gem. Lovely staff and AMAZING food, thankyou so much will definitely be back! The curries are so good and authentic Thai!
I’m sorry for this review, but I can only speak as I find. My son came out from Westmere to take me for dinner last night, we chose this place as he wanted wine with his meal, this was not able to happen at our usual place we normally go too. All for the sake of a glass of wine. The entree was awful, the main awful, the place stunk, it was hot no air circulating anywhere in the place, the table was sticky, the menus had prices stuck over them, never again, my son remarked in an email this morning, we won’t be going back there. And I nearly forgot, the rice was hard in places, a complete waste of money. I definately do not recommend this place to anyone, until they tidy it up.
What a lovely little restaurant. Friendly staff, nice quiet atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious . Nicest Thai we've ever had. We are big eaters and the portion was plenty enough. We will definitely go back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Pad Keemao
If you're looking for delicious food, with a friendly inviting service, you must try Emerald Thai in Papakura. My husband and I walked in for date night dinner and were welcomed with big warm smile! The food was hot and fresh, and the staff were so lovely. We enjoyed our sizzling hot plates, and seafood dishes along with our banana split dessert. Absolutely well worth the visit! Highly recommended to all 10/10... Service: Dine in
3 of us had lunch here recently. It was a very friendly atmosphere. We ordered our choice of food (2 sizzling dishes and a Red curry) and some appetizers. The food was served pretty quickly and it was very tasty. The serving size is decent. 2 of our group couldn't finish their food. We were served by the owner, who was really friendly. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Thai food. Service: Dine in
