So. Let's say you are on the north end of the island, everything is closed because it is winter and you cannot bear to drive to Pothia. You should go to Marinos. Like other reviewers pointed out, you get homemade food (not some crazy long menu like the places on the strip in Pothia). Everything is good and hearty. We had the stuffed peppers/tomatoes (gemista), bean soup (fasolatha) and cabbage and carrot salad. Portions were generous. Service was quick and the waiter kept an eye on us but did not intrude. We left full and happy and the price was really great. Then, just as we asked for the bill the waiter brought out Christmas cookies. Nice for a last evening in Kalymnos (in December). Vegetarian options: We had an entirely vegetarian meal. And it was excellent.
