Chelly's Cafe - Palmdale
Chelly's Cafe
Description
Nestled in a bustling area, this restaurant presents a mixed bag of experiences. Detractors cite issues with service, including inattentiveness, hair in dishes, and vague communication about closing times, leading to a frustrating dining experience. Conversely, many patrons praise the delicious food, such as the acclaimed artichoke scramble and homemade muffins, complemented by a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. With a diverse menu, including a notable Mexican selection, the crowd often reflects its popularity. While cleanliness and excellent service shine through for many, the concerns around customer care cannot be ignored, prompting mixed reviews overall.

This small breakfast spot is crowded, but worth it. I tried the spicy turkey scramble and blueberry muffin, both of which were delicious. I highly recommend this place.
Heard from a friend recommend this place so thought I would give it a try. was quite busy and had to wait about 25 minutes to be sitting, but not bad. they have a lot of choices and I wanted to try the chillaquilles with green spicy salsa. chillaquilles are one of my favorite foods and I have eaten them everywhere in mexiko and the U.S. food came quite fast and looked great. the chips were exactly right, crispy, but dipped in salsa, covered by simple eggs on the top and a side of fried beans with cheese. the beans were somewhat disappointing, on average best, but not bad. the spicy salsa was not spicy at all, but then again I like really spicy food. service was gold, but not big, I had to ask for sweeteners about 5 times before I got it and I forgot to mention, I sat on a common table with another party that was a little unpleasant. overall I give this place 4 stars. good, but not great.
Horrible service ? wife's food had a hair in it coming out of the kitchen. When it was brought to our waitresses attention, she responded with OK, what would you like me done We also ordered a salad with no avocados and ofcourse there was avocados in it when it came out. When asked to fix it, they jist removed the avocados and brought back out the same salad. Luckily my kid didn't have an allergy to avocados otherwise this would have been a major problem. Then when ALL of this was brought to the owners attention, she just said We're short staff, the pandemic is making it hard at times Never once did she offer to comp us a meal or even a discount for these problems. She just went to the back to make her staff aware, which should have been the BASIC of things. Never coming back her nor will I suggest my family who just moved up there to go here either. Sadly, IHop or Dennys would have been better....that's a horrible thing to think.
This place is amazing! Today was my first time dining here and it was packed on the weekends! I regret not waiting because it was definitely worth it. Their breakfast is delicious, especially the waffles. Many cafes struggle with getting the waffle recipe right, but this place nails it. The prices are also good, unlike the overpriced Black Bear down the lot. This place is a must-visit, although I wish they had a bigger space. I used to order takeout for lunch and their chicken sandwiches are fantastic, especially the Cajun crispy one. Definitely give it a try.
