Reviews - Java Lounge Cafe
Reviews summary
The Java Lounge in Paddington is considered a historical cafe staple by many longtime residents. However, some recent visitors have noted a decline in the overall feel of the place, particularly in terms of service. Despite this, the food and coffee are consistently good, with standard cafe offerings like smashed avocado and big breakfasts. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and welcoming, with efficient and friendly service. Prices are reasonable, and the cafe has a solid local following. Overall, the Java Lounge offers a lively vibe compared to other local coffee shops, making it a popular spot for both regulars and newcomers alike.

I came here while visiting Brisbane for a few days. My companion was a local who was keen to try somewhere new. I had the fritters with smoked salmon and my companion had the eggs benedict. She was very happy with the sauce. My breakfast was very nice and the hot chocolate that I had was pretty good. The service was friendly and efficient. All in all, a good spot for breakfast. What Chesley Hagenes dislikes about Java Lounge Cafe:
Stylish deco, good service. Love those paints on the wall.
To be honest, the coffee here was quite average. The portion of the food would be a bit small for me, ordered a egg benedict with bacon and a vegetarian bagel. Nothing to comment on the egg benedict, it is just average one. I like the veggie bagel, all ingredient were fresh, and the grilled cheese within was delicious.
Nothing goes wrong with this shop, but... View all feedback.

Have always wanted to give this place a try! Have driven past it countless times over the years and always thought it looked like it had such a nice relaxed vibe to it. Finally went on Sunday morning with my partner for breakfast. I had the avocado smash and my partner had the big brekkie. Food was generous and the flavours in the avocado smash were on point service was fantastic. Fast, friendly and efficient. The cafe had such a cute homely feel to it. Definitely a great local cafe that I will frequent from now on
Between the lovely staff, the Royale and a vegetarian bage we could not have asked for more! a beautiful place for lunch today with my daughter! I would come back again and again!
Great food and coffee but you'll need to book ahead if you want an outside table for you and the furbabies.<br/ <br/ Service prompt and friendly and seems very popular with locals and cyclists.
Decided to give this place a whirl the other morning. Glad we did it was a cute little cafe in a great spot amongst The hustle and bustle of Paddington. I had the zucchini and corn fritters with smoked salmon and poached egg which was a very generous serving (fabulous for the price) and Em had the avocado smash with poached egg and feta. Both agreed the meals were delish and definitely wanted come back and try a few more of the menu items <br/

We were visiting the area and asked a local for a recommendation for a great breakfast cafe. The Java Lounge was recommended for its great coffee. We arrived around 9-30am and the cafe was quite busy. There is indoor and outdoor seating but it was a little cool so we chose a table indoors. The service was excellent and the meals delicious. The coffee was exceptional. The venue is however noisy so I would not recommend it if you wanted a quiet spot.
Usually go to Stefanis next door but is now closed. so I dropped into java lounge and was not disappointed- coffee was made quick and very delicious. Not sure what it was but their SK FW was very good. We’ll be back

One of our regular haunts for a post run breakfast, Java is taking reservations! Praise be! Sadly the broccoli bowl has not survived Covid, but otherwise, it was a very respectable performance. Generous servings and well executed.
I love this place but hate it as well. I love the atmosphere here and usually a good solid feed. But sometimes it just doesn't quiet make it to the 5*. My friend had the chicken on Turkish bread and it was a fantastic meal lovely and filling along with an ice cold ginger beer. I had the salmon bagel which was really disappointing. Only one very small slice of salmon a bit of lettuce with something on top. I dont know what that was supposed to be. My thirteen year old daughter could have done a better job. It was only half the size of the chicken. The lady waitress was very disinterested in her job. Her apron was filthy and looked like it hadn't been washed for a month which was suprising considering the coronavirus and everything needs to be squicky clean and it wasnt. The bloke there was very lovely and intentive and tried very hard to please his customers. Hygiene and presentation is extremely Important throughout the coronavirus situation at the moment. Maybe next time in will be perfect.

Always wanted to try this place! have gone over the years countless picturesque and always thought it looked like it had such a nice relaxed mood to him. on Sunday morning my partner finally went to breakfast. I had the avocado smash and my partner had the big brekkie. the food was generous and the aromen in the avocado smash were in the point service was fantastic. fast, friendly and efficient. the caffe had such a sweet, secret feeling. definitiw a big local caffe, which I often have from now on
I'm pretty sure I checked this caffe before, but I couldn't get my first so researched it again.Had a quick brekkie on the last Sunday morning. I have a good feeling of new management, because it served a passionate Asian gentleman and was very smart to press me in a reserved table before the booking period of the customer. to save his time and make sure that the table was for those who arranged for him, I ordered before I sat down.Well, flat white the piazza Doro’art was not lacking. However, the test marks were stored by the well prepared ham cheese croissant. it was the version I always emphases. Nicely presents in a standard croissant that remained its texture with careful heating without roasted. many sinks with only corresponding amount of cheese is the way it should be. important is that the cutlery made me very satisfied because the knife was sharp and it was the shape of the croissant after every single piece I cut through. Recommended caffe Rating:
Had breakfast after local ANZAC Day service. It was busy but service was efficient and coffee and meals came out surprisingly quickly.Brekkie bagel was good, smokey tomato relish a bit heavy handed, good bacon.I don't understand Piazza D'Oro as a bean choice - reminds me of the Gold Coast in the early 90's - Lavazza, Piazza D'Oro, Segafredo being the dominant brands down there at the time. You don't see Lavazza and Segafredo much as all anymore...Bill was reasonable.
I really like this place. My friend and i stopped in here for a bit of a late breakfast/early lunch.
We regularly have breakfast on the weekends here. The waitstaff get to know you by name and know our regular orders. The only reason we keep coming back is because the service is relaxed and excellent, the coffee is great (and made just how you like it) and the food is simple, high quality and well presented. Gluten free is handled effortlessly. Will be back again next weekend.
