A funky little spot with good food (love their juicy burgers) and friendly service. We ate there twice over a long weekend and enjoyed it both times. A consistently good spot to eat. View all feedback.
What Lexus Ruecker doesn't like about Norma Jean's Bistro:
Have eaten many an enjoyable meal here. But tonight was disappointing. The main protein was good..salmon for me and beef for my husband. But all the sides were a let down, on my dish the rice was soggy, the mango salsa too cold and the Brussels bland. I passed my opinion onto the waitress but she did not seem bothered. Then when we were about to ask for tea/coffee she suddenly left our table to greet someone who had... View all feedback.
Did New Year's Eve dinner here. Usually not open on this day of the week, but it was for the holiday. The owner waited on us. She was very nice. Food was very good. Prob the best plate restaurant in OS. Decor was good. Place is well kept. Very much enjoyed and highly recommended.
Norma Jean's is a perfect place to stop for lunch when you need a drink and a bite to eat. They also serve a full dinner menu. The restaurant is cozy and the staff is friendly. You can sit at the bar for a friendly chat, at a romantic table by the window, or outside. The menu is creative with selections to make vegetarians happy alongside their meat eating companions. Definitely a great spot for a satisfying meal.
Great food! Fresh and yummy : good service : couldn't ask for more! We tried the veggie sandwich, the chicken sandwich and the steak sandwich. All great :
I came to Owen sound from Toronto for a work placement for a week- I did a random Google search for restaurants and this one came up. I was a little hesitant at first from the pictures, but my God was I in for a treat. Very non commercial, family home-made vibe, excellent food. Healthy, low amount of salt, great portion sizes. Vegetables were perfectly steamed, chicken was so tender and juicy. The dessert options were incredible- I went for the creme brulee and it has to be the best one I've ever had! What a fantastic little find!! Highly recommend
We stopped at Norma Jean's for dinner on our drive from Tobermory to Toronto. As one of the highest rated restaurants in Owen Sound, we figured this was a safe bet. I will say the service was pleasant, but the food was a different story. My friend and I ordered the steamed mussels to start it was fishy and did not taste fresh. For our mains, I ordered the Chimichurri steak with cheesy mashed potatoes and my friend ordered the Filet Mignon Steak with rice. Our main course took over an hour to serve. Even the waitress acknowledged the long wait and apologized for the wait. My mashed potatoes arrived cold and my friend's rice arrived was cold and hard. The waitress offered to replace the sides, but we were too hungry from the long wait and had a timeline to return home to Toronto. It may be the nicest restaurant in Owen Sound, but I would definitely not recommend the food for anyone in transit.
