What User doesn't like about Pingallo:
Bad, bad, bad. only with that we can summarize the experience in this site. We ate a few flavorless zamburiñas and the sauce. My mother, we take water, we thicken it and add yellow dye and better taste. The octopus was not worthy of delight. and being jots the scramble with grelos was not bad but I still look for the egg the price was quite good, but the quality so low that the relationship goes quite wrong. We arrived in ours on Friday night; after checking at the hotel we had booked outside (auriense eurostars) we went quickly to the historic center to find a place to eat. It was late, so we didn't take too many laps and go to the pingallo, after taking a look at the letter that was at the door. The truth is that the outside aspect and the bar (bastuoo obsolete) at the entrance of the premises did not invite much to enter, but there we went. Inside there is a very large dining room with little decoration, and a door that gives access to a patio-terrace where we settled, as it was good night and seemed a very nice place. On the other hand, it was where there were people (I hate to eat in an empty dining room) the letter was very wide, it could be ordered in the rations plan to share, or the letter as they had all kinds of meat and fish. We opt for the rations, and we ask two people: a steep scallop in the style of the house (made to the larger squabbles in the refrito,) a portion of octopus, lacon with grelos (also accompanied by a squirrel and boiled potatoes,) and shrimp to the chin. Everything was very good except the lacon, which I found with a lot of work. the rations were abundant, and we no longer ask for dessert. the deal was normal, a little walking at home but well (the site was not something to ask, and even on the terrace the tables were made of plastic). but we had very good dinner, we put the boots and at a more than affordable price, as we paid in total, including a bottle of white wine, water and coffee, a total of 40€ (to 20€ per person,) what else can you order?
Wonderful place, extraordinary food. The percebes was superb, first time for me. I ate fish, grilled octopus, and percebes.
Can 't say enough good things about this Gallego restaurant: service, menu, price, atmosphere all were super, in my opinion. I had grilled octopus! I know. I know. Not a typical fare for some palettes. But it was delicious. Then I had a chef 's salad (though I think it was called the Pingallo salad and it was huge and great and filling. My husband had camarrones (small shrimp exquisite , small sardines (xouvas he loved them and a fish called Rodaballo (turbot? a la plancha which means basically cooked on a griddle. He said it was flaky and fresh and firm! The wine was amazing and the price was too. Loved this place.
We have no Spanish but waiter was great. He brought out all the seafood and named it in Spanish for us. We had clams, razor clams and bacilao, all magnificent. Have had much less good bacilao in Santiago this was just right. Highly recommended for food and service
