The menu featured modern tw... read more During our two-night stay at Lapland Hotel in Oulu, we had the pleasure of trying the restaurant's surprise menu on the first night. The menu featured modern twists on traditional Lappish dishes, which were expertly prepared and delicious. However, the standout of the evening was the waitress, who had a fantastic sense of humor and made us feel incredibly welcome. It was a breath of fresh air to be served by such an experienced and friendly waitress. Additionally, the breakfast served in the restaurant both mornings was also very enjoyable.

The service provided by Merja was exceptional and the food was outstanding. The bread with browned butter was particularly delicious. They effortlessly accommodated a vegan menu for one of my nieces, which was greatly appreciated. I live in England and asked my sister to bring back some of the amazing bread for me when she visited. She did, and now I am enjoying it once again as I write this review. I will definitely return to this restaurant when I am in Oulu next.

However, the worst taste was left in my mouth by the service. We had booked a table for 6pm but called there the same afternoon and asked whether it would be possible to change it for 7pm. The person on the phone said it suits them fine. However, as we arrived and told that we have a reservation, the restaurant employee said in a condescending manner it shows for us that you had a reservation at 6 . We told about the phone call and the rescheduling, to which the same person answered briefly and unapolotegically while starting to write something. Then she guided us to a table that wasn 't even in the actual restaurant but in the lobby. I had as a joke said when we entered that that empty table is probably ours . Compared to the beautiful restaurant side our table offered a close view to the cash register, bluetooth speaker and loud discussions from the nearby table, and the hassle of the hotel lobby. The only bright thing in the service was a very friendly male waiter with black hair that served us.

The h... read more This restaurant-bar is located at the Lapland Hotel next to the Oulu Cathedral. We had here a drink and toilet stop after the museum and cathedral visits. The hotel looks quite ugly from the outside like the other Lapland Hotels in Helsinki, Tampere, and Kuopio. It is a wonder that also here they have managed to get the mystic Lapland atmosphere to the interior. The service was very slow although there seemed to be a lot of staff. When bringing the drinks to the table, the waitress didn't take the dirty glasses from previous guests away. Quite unprofessional.
