One of the original traditional Chinese restaurants in Ottawa and an icon for good food. The portions and prices have wavered over the years and its sad to see the dolly trays and some of the unique dishes like taro duck go away. Though I'm hoping they return ?. Service is always dependable and attentive which is rare and you can tell the workers enjoy themselves enough as some have worked there since I was a child.T... View all feedback.
What soupy b doesn't like about Yangtze:
Coming from toronto and experiencing this restaurant based on reviews and location....disappointing to say the least. Claypot dishes came lukewarm at best, our steamed fish dish was expensive filet fish, it was overcooked and underwhelming. The only saving grace was its steamed hainanese chicken... even the lobster was overcooked with little ginger onion flavour. For such an expensive dinner it was sad at best. At le... Awesome gluten-free menu. Most dishes can be made gluten-free. Great ambiance and excellent service. Food was very tasty and well priced. Feels like you’re at an expensive restaurant but the prices are very reasonable. Great to go in a large group as you can order many gluten-free options to share.
Delicious lemon chicken, beef and broccoli, and fried rice take-out! Great value as well, with the whole order (could feed 4 people) priced under $50. I wish their gf menu was posted on the window or more accessible in-person, but it is available online and it offers a good variety of dishes. I’m celiac and I didn’t have any reaction to the food.
The servers were very nice and attentive. The dim sum was quite good with fairly large portions. The other main courses were average at best. Overall, a decent experience that was a tad expensive.

At least the service was impeccable. I just wish it tasted as good as it looked. Go elsewhere if youre looking for good authentic chinese food.
An iconic Chinatown anchor venue, both physically but also a community meeting place for many diaspora. If you put my feet against the fire, for foodies who only care about food this is more of a 4/5, but it's brought up by manifold other things about it, namely: one of the best places to accommodate a large group in Chinatown with, including Chinese weddings and similar events possibly the best value bar menu for cocktails on Somerset. All the classics with a low price and higher alcohol content. popular gluten free menu, so if you are in that group you pretty much want to go here menu is massive... But that's the English menu and there's a different Chinese menu.So if you want a big dinner party on Somerset this is pretty much your main option to please everyone. Staff are dressed more formally as part of that. They have dim sum too though it's probably safe to say it's not their specialty. We hope they stick around if not for our own dining, then for the community!
